This book was marked as “good“ condition and was noted to have wear and tear. I was expecting this to arrive A bit more beat up but this book was in amazing condition for having been used before. After this experience, I would certainly trust the seller to accurately rate their products.
Focus Preparatory –
This book shipped quickly, which is important when I’m ordering in August for the start of the school year. I think this textbook is written in an easy-to-understand, conversational style. The questions make you think and apply what you’ve learned, as opposed to regurgitation-type questions. It’s not too hard, but is academically sound prepares students well. However, if your student has already had earth science or earth and space science, it repeats a lot of that material. When I was growing up, Earth Science was an 8th grade course, and Life Science was 7th. The author realized that Biology was being moved to a 9th grade course, so Physical Science had to be moved to an 8th grade course, and so on. Where would it end? So this author had the buck stop here, combining Earth Science with some chemistry and physics topics and principles, all in one in this product. When I teach from this book, I add in a little more chemistry and physics from a different Physical Science textbook that covers the traditional material. I hope it prepares them a little better for later upper-level courses, since I see Physical Science as a sort of introductory or pre- chemistry and physics. I also add a few more challenging labs, choosing to use some of the quick, easier experiments in this book as classroom demonstrations. This product works fine on its own. I’m just a science nerd.

Apologia is King for Christian Home-school science. The student can teach themselves with these books, which are written to the student. The Parent can answer questions but if you are like me, you will need to read up on your own but mostly I just prepare the labs and hand out / grade the tests.

Love this book. It arrived in very good condition and faster than I expected. I’m pleased to see how well thought out this book is — it has so much info in it. The quality is great. It might seem a bit too much money to some people, but trust me, it’s worth it! Also, I recommend buying the Physical Science Student Notebook.
