I had recently decided to switch back to Dominant strings, but like many other reviewers here, I can’t stand the sound of the Dominant E. Seeing how popular this E string is as a substitute, I decided to give it a try. I accidentally ordered loop-end instead of ball-end at first, but after the return was made (thanks for making it super easy Amazon!), I switched on my new strings. And WOW โ I was blown away with the quality of this string. It’s loud but not harsh, it’s brilliant but not screechy โ it really sings beautifully with my other strings, and stays in tune/broke in quickly. Would definitely recommend.

I like these for the E-string a little brighter and more pronounced.

Arrives on time and well packed.

Love the sound, but be warned there are 2 versions of this string – one with the ball at the end, and one without!
Made the mistake of accidentally ordering the one without and broke it while trying to see if I could โfix itโ to make it work while I waited for the other…
So just be aware and buy the right string for your instruments needs in the first place and you should have no problem ๐๐๐ป

A typical set up is a Pirastro gold E string and Dominant 135B mediums for A, D, and G strings. I like this set up, and have been using it for years. But, that said, you have to be happy with how your instrument sounds wrt how you play.
Frannie –
The Pirastro E string was recommended in several sites and has very good sound quality.
Distaff –
Very happy with this string. Cuts out the shrill shreech of the previous string.

Less catching on an up bow, but the overall tone seems soft to me. I have a powerful instrument and play it loud. Doesn’t seem to match the tone of my Chromcors. But it was worth a try.
