Mine just arrived and I am pleasantly surprised. It’s very light but very sturdy.
The handle appears to be very strong. You would be able to fit a bunch of stuff in here and have room left over. Would be great for camping supplies as well. Or if you are looking for a way to store and organize some of your ammo away neatly this may be a good item.
The rough inside dimensions are:
13.25″ Long
7.00 ” Wide
8.25 ” Deep
Since the case is wider than the common military type cans you are able to pack them differently and the extra room makes all the difference
Using as ammo storage and creative packing you should be able to fit the following:
30.06 – 17 boxes
12 ga – 9 boxes
20ga – 15 boxes
Of course if you want to throw the stuff in there bulk you’ll get even more.
There is also a mini storage compartment on 1 side of the lid to store any other smaller items, and the latch seems very secure so nothing will accidently fall out.
I like the Plano items and would buy this again

Gave this 5 stars because as far as I’m concerned these boxes are great. Bought 2 of them to store ammo in and I was able to get 15 boxes of 50 rounds of 9mm in one box with probably room for more. The other box I used for shotgun rounds of 00 Buckshot and Slugs. I got a lot of weight in both boxes and I don’t see any problems of them handling it, handles seem very sturdy. I’m seriously thinking about buying a couple more. Only thing I wish was that they had waterproof gaskets around the lids. I might just throw some thin rubber weather stripping around the lid rim and that should make it water tight. I highly recommend these boxes.

I really like this case, and I use it in the back of my car to keep emergency and other supplies. when it is full and tightly packed, the sides will flex and it will not seal. as long as it is loosely filled, it closes pretty tightly. One thing I like about army surplus metal boxes is that they don’t flex and they seal tightly no matter what is inside or how it is packed. this case is much lighter weight since it is plastic. For my purposes, it is a good deal and a nice case. I bought a second one after it arrived.

プラノのボックスは一番小さいのからこの上のサイズまで3個所有していて今回4個めになる。この1612がバリや細かい作りなど一番荒い状態だった。製品誤差なのかなんなのかは知らないが、キズなど含めてかなり見受けられた。ただ、どの道使って行くうちにキズはつくし、ロッドホルダー付けるのに穴あけ加工等々行うので個人的には許容範囲。

I got this to use as an ammo cache and its great! I fit 450 rounds of 5.45×39 in here, some magazines, some .22 and I still have TONS of room left. That being said it definitely isn’t “too big” as I felt other options were. Maybe if you wanna store 100,000 rounds go look for something else, but the size is perfect for me and I would guess would be great for most people. I didn’t want something too big–this is a very manageable size and when full of ammo still is a very manageable weight. Its made from very sturdy plastic. The whole item is very sturdy, including the handle–which I worried about under the stress of all that ammo. But my worries were in vain–its a very good sturdy design. Theres even a little compartment on top (pleasantly surprised me) for keeping cleaning rods/other small items. 10/10!

Beware, while these boxes are a decent quality, they do not come with gaskets to help make them water resistant. I assumed they would, but they did not. I did have a latch on one of the top bins that was broken in shipping as well, but I won’t hold that against the seller as that can happen when your boxes are bouncing around the back of a truck.
All in all, not a bad box for the money, but don’t plan on using it to keep anything dry.

i had bought the Camouflage box and liked it, but then Amazon ran out of it, but i wanted another good box like it so i bought the Large Black one and it came without a seal. Also the lid makes some cracking sounds a bit opening and closing it. it is important to me that this box is waterproof. That is why i ordered it and spent that much money on it. i am using it for my little vintage dolls and photographs, not for ammunition. it did say that this black Field box comes with NO tray, but that’s Ok. The Camouflage box came with a tray AND it was waterproof. Also it was the same price as this one. i am not saying that when you order a Large Black Field Box that it will come WITHOUT a seal, but that mine did. i hope this was helpful. Sabiene 🙂
