Ever had taters that felt and tasted light as a feather? Buy this bad boy and you will. Boil them taters til they’re ready, put em in and squeeze. They popped in the pan with a bit of butter salt and pepper and garlic, and boom! Been havin to hide the damn thing from the single moms, they’ll steal it if you ain’t careful. I’m on my 3rd one of these things, but they’re affordable and they make your bland tasteless taters into a chef like masterpiece that has the ladies knocking on your door for whatever ingredient only to pop off down the road when you go to the fridge for the butter.

Kathryn if you’re reading this, stop stealing it from me and buy it here it’s affordable and it does good stuff obviously. I’ll keep buying em but this is a little irritating.

Works easy enough and the potatoes come out super smooth. Only down side is some of the potatoes can fall out on top of the plunger and can fall into your bowl of smooth potaotes. Not a bad price and seems like a good quality so far.

I’ve started using this more and more. I love the multiple sizes and interchanging them is really easy. The grip is just simple metal but it’s very sturdy. Make sure all the skin is off or it can make the top stick to the bottom. Sometimes I over squeeze the handle but with the strong frame it’s very easy to squeeze and this comes from someone with little grip strength. Great price for the quality.

    Pros:

Consistent Texture: This potato ricer produces very smooth and consistent mashed potatoes. The small holes in the ricer help break down the potatoes effectively, creating a velvety texture.

Easy to Use: This potato ricer is very straightforward to use. You place the cooked potatoes into the chamber, and by pressing down, the mashed potatoes are forced through the small holes. This process requires minimal effort.

Versatile: While primarily used for potatoes, I’ve used this potato ricer also for other vegetables, such as carrots, turnips, or squash. It’s a versatile tool for various recipes.

Less Gluey Texture: Unlike mashing with a regular potato masher or electric mixer, a ricer doesn’t overwork the potatoes, which can lead to a gluey texture. It keeps the starches in the potatoes from being overactivated, resulting in lighter and fluffier mashed potatoes. I learned that from Gordon Ramsey!

Easy to Clean: This potato ricer is easy to clean, as it has removable parts that can be placed in the dishwasher or cleaned by hand. I’ve done both with this one.

    Cons:

Limited to Mashed Texture: While potato ricers excel at producing smooth, creamy mashed potatoes, they aren’t suitable for dishes where you want a chunky or rustic texture. For those cases, a masher might be more appropriate.

Storage: Potato ricers in general can be bulky and may take up space in your kitchen. Look for models with a compact design if you have limited storage.

Not Ideal for Large Batches: If you need to mash a significant quantity of potatoes, using a potato ricer can be time-consuming compared to using an electric mixer. But the flavor is the pay-off.

In summary, this potato ricer is an excellent addition to your kitchen if you appreciate perfectly smooth and creamy mashed potatoes and other vegetables. Its ease of use and ability to maintain a desirable texture make it a valuable tool for creating delicious side dishes.

Can you have mashed potatoes without this handy item? Sure. Is this a “must have” addition to your kitchen? Not really. Will your potatoes turn out absolutely perfect every time? Well, for me it has been consistently wonderful, turning out the nicest texture of mashed ever served up at my table. I could live without this treasure of a kitchen item not knowing its potential for good; however, now that I have experience with it I am glad for the purchase. This product that would last a lifetime.

I purchased this potato ricer to use as a veggie squeezer. Ive been on a low carb diet and having spialized zucchini and other veggies in my diet. It’s great except when draining and squeezing the liquid out of the spiralized noodles by hand. This product lets you use leverage to apply pressure to the noodles much easier and the liquid is easily expressed quickly. Happy camper now
The unit is very heavy duty in construction. The handles are made with relatively thick steel that do not bend under pressure.
The cup / bucket is generous size and capacity to get thru a couple pounds of zucchini in a few minutes.
The press plate fits the cup fairly well such that minimal product squeezes past the wrong way.
The entire unit is stainless steel for easy cleaning. There are black rubber grip pads in the handles tho.
Surface finish is very attractive polished stainless. Smooth and refined. NOTE. As others have stated there are very sharp edges on the handles. To the point it is dangerous. I knew this before buying and immediately took a fine metal file to these sharp edges removing the sharp burr. A dremel tool would make this easy work.
One other caveat is the lower handle which wrap around the cup tends to flex a bit at the cup when pressing. It works fine but this seems to be a weak-ish area. (You can apply a ton of pressure with the upper handle) so be aware when pressing to not flex the lower handle too much. It’s sturdy but just be aware
    I love it anyway!!!

I didn’t think I needed a potato ricer until I had one. Now I know that everyone needs one.

So far I have only used my ricer for potatoes and it was very easy to use. It did not require super human strength to push the potatoes through. It also did not clog up with the peels and continued to work smoothly through 5 refills without removing the skins until the end.
My only negative is that it does not have interchangeable plates for different hole sizes as I was hoping to be able to also use it for spaetzle.

It’s a good utensil but its size and weight make it difficult to use and clean. If ricing something firm like a baked sweet potato significant arm strength is needed. Soft stuff like banana or watery cooked spinach are much easier. Lucky me – my kitchen sink is two bowl and one is narrower than the other and I can rest this thing across the span from sink divider to countertop. That way all I have to do is press down on the handle on top and that makes it a lot easier than having to exert pressure from both sides. Because of how big and cumbersome it is it’s difficult to wash too. If I couldn’t rest it on a solid supporting surface like I do I would not use it much. But with my setup I do use it often and get good results. Better than setting up a food processor.
