Jessica Madden –
I am so confused by the popularity of this book. I’m not even on tiktok but I’ve seen and heard the hype for this book and series. So, I thought I’d give it a go. I figured it was a cozy mystery, but it’s not. It’s just a regular small-town romance that is full of silly and repetitive push and pull. It was quaint and sweet and probably great if you’re not easily bored. The characters were one-dimensional and if this is Logan grumpy, then I’m not sure the guy even knows what mad is. He was smitten and a marshmallow the entire book. He was also an idiot at times. The lack of a decent grovel scene at the end had me knocking off a star. Overall, this was forgettable and only left me wondering why the world chose this book to hype up when there are so many that are exact replicas of this storyline/vibe. The audio was good and it was a quick listen (sitting somewhere in the six-hour mark) so I’m grateful it wasn’t dragged out.

It happens rarely that every sentence in a book keeps you hooked. Not because it’s extraordinary, but so damn relatable it almost becomes special and better than extraordinary.

The book arrived damaged and my only option is to buy a new one and fill in for a return.

I especially liked rhe befinning of this book, and lived rhe armosphere throughout. It’s well written, I just wished the mystery had been a bit more mysterious.

This was a fun, warm hearted, emotional read. I enjoyed the plot and the main characters but found it slow at times.
A small town cozy book, Rom-com. Enjoyable!

It’s a nice, fun fall read, perfect for this time of year. If you are expecting a complicated, over-combined, bloated story with super deep thoughts, this book is not for you. This story is simple, and light, evoking all those beautiful feelings when you just want to curl up in a blanket with a book, light some candles, and pour yourself a glass of wine. Small town where people are looking for new beginnings. Sympathetic characters that you will immediately fall in love with. A cafe, book club, pumpkins, cute animals, plenty of caffeine, simply everything inherent to autumn. Add to that – the romance, the unresolved past of the main characters, which prevents the fulfillment of love, accompanied by a misunderstanding between them. And of course, there are mysterious sounds and events. Predictable? Maybe. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the story very much and I already have a sequel waiting for me on my e-reader.

This is the first book in the Dream Harbour Series. In this story we follow Jeanie and how she is starting a new chapter in her life running her aunts Pumpkin Spice Café. But not everyone is happy that she is there and things start happening at the café that Jeanie does not like but is determined to make a go of things. Logan is a local and finds himself drawn to Jeanie and the both of them try to solve the puzzle but will they get more than they were bargained for. It was a nice easy read, you kind of can guess what will happen but it did not really matter when you just want to escape from the world for a bit. I like the fact that this is a series so we can catch up with all the great bunch of characters that are in this book. It is quite a nice and gentle cosy read that I really enjoyed.

I enjoyed this light-hearted, cute & fun Hallmark-movie-like story. The characters were entertaining and brought out lots of smiles. Was it sometimes cheesy? Perhaps. But I must’ve been in the mood for that cheese because I really liked it. It was perfect for this time of year.
Here are a few things that made me enjoy this book:
cozy fall vibes,
small town fun,
an adorable coffee shop,
crazy side characters,
insta-love,
a little mystery thrown in the mix.
Apparently, (according to lots of reviews) this has a Gilmore Girls feel to it. Confession: I’ve never watched one episode of GG (don’t come at me) so I can’t compare them.
Many of the low-star ratings say they aren’t a fan of insta-love. Well, guess what? I am. And I believe that’s what made me absolutely fine with their relationship. Yes, there was a lot of beating around the bush from both Logan and Jeanie – they were both too afraid to admit their feelings. Unfortunately , I took away one star for all the miscommunication. Kinda drove me bonkers. lol
And don’t let the pretty cover fool you into thinking this is a clean romance. For those of you who like a little spice in your romance stories, this one’s got you covered. Though the majority of it is pretty innocent. 😉
Laurie Gilmore was a new-to-me author and I’m happy I took a chance and read this. I like her writing style and I will definitely be reading the next book.

This contemporary romance is a sweet autumn-themed slow-burn story. I love the book’s small-town, midlife, and grumpy/sunshine tropes. The book was lighthearted, with a little mystery and some very lovable characters. Jeanie and Logan have some sizzling intimacy as they go from acquaintances to lovers and embrace their relationship. The autumn vibes were cozy and nostalgic. I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author.
Jeanie is beginning her new life in Dream Harbor. Thanks to her aunt’s retirement ideas, she is now the owner of The Pumpkin Spice Cafe.
Logan, the local farmer and produce delivery driver, is quiet and introverted. Although the small town seems quirky and fun, he also has a hero complex.
The book club and townsfolk in this story are a hoot. Maybe I should take notes on what to read next. I like that this is a slow burn, with Jeanie and Logan getting to know each other before anything happens. The book is predictable but a sweet read.
I like Logan and his protective nature. Jeanie is a hot mess but entertaining. Their chemistry is off the charts, and the autumn vibes in the book are cozy, like a warm sweater. I love the not-so-secret relationship and, of course, the little bit of mystery in the storyline. Between the autumn festival, the farm and all its earthy descriptions, and pumpkins, apples, and costumes, what’s not to love about the autumn vibes in this book?
The acquaintance to lovers does get steamy, but it is a sweet intimacy. I love how the characters stay true to their personalities even in the throes of passion. They border between steamy encounters and sizzling intimacy. The found family in the book is so heartwarming.
Oh, did you catch the set-up for future book characters? This book ends sweetly with the found family and small-town charms.
