2016 Nissan maxima about 112k miles and it’s running so smooth. I initially changed the fluid with valvoline’s cvt fluid and it didn’t quite do the job , the transmission felt good for then it started running just a bit rough. So then I saw this stuff and man o man I wish I would’ve spent the money on this stuff. HUGE DIFFERENCE in the performance of my cvt. Really amazing stuff.

This is perfect for CVT transmissions. This fluid brought back a slipping and grabbing transmission to good working order and saved me thousands of dollars. There’s no doubt that the early Dodge CVT transmissions are a bad idea, but this stuff can save you. Be sure to do your research before putting this fluid in. The cars that come without a dipstick are very critical that you get the exact amount of fluid at the exact temperature, since synthetic fluids expand so much with temperature change. Information out there is vague on some transmissions. The local Dodge dealership was no help what so ever. All they wanted to do is sell me a $4,200 replacement transmission. You will need to buy an after market dipstick, mine is made by AST and came with a temperature and level chart to calculate the proper level. You will also need a temperature “thermocouple type” lead. to get into the fluid from the dip stick tube to sense the temperature. Be sure to get a replacement pan gasket and filter when you install this fluid. Do not mix this fluid with the existing fluid. Get enough of Non-Slip to fill your transmission as needed. This is a project that needs to be done right the first time…….Good Luck, I hope this product works as good for you as it did for me…………………

My first CVT change on the Honda CRV was with the official Honda oil, which smells like gear oil and hog manure. Second change was Redline which does not smell remotely as bad and quieted the drive train a lot. If you want a quiet happy CVT this is the ticket. The magnetic drain plug agrees that Redline is less friction without the stink. I am at 100k on the CRV with two changes of Redline and I am sticking with it.

In general, I’ve found Redline transmission fluids to perform well in extreme cold and hot temperatures. In an old 4L60E that would slip slightly until the fluid warmed up, I drained and refilled with D4 and never had an issue with cold slippage in that car again. Based on that experience, I decided to try this in a Nissan with a 130K miles on the CVT. Nissan extended the warranty to 120K on these CVT’s as they’re known to be garbage and prone to the belt slipping. I drained and refilled with Valvoline CVT at 100K (typically have liked Valvoline for motor oil in bikes and cars) but experienced some growling and light slippage during a long highway drive on a 100* day at 123K miles. When I got home, I checked the fluid and it was a bit frothy. With the warranty up, I decided to research CVT fluids (Nissan’s is way overpriced and doesn’t seem to have great reviews). Was surprised Redline offers a CVT fluid so I ordered a box. Being too lazy to drop the pan again, I sucked about 4 quarts out of the dipstick tube with a Topsider used for boat oil changes) and filled with this. I’m sure this CVT is on borrowed time but it hasn’t made a noise or slipped over the past 10K miles since adding Redline. I’m not sponsored by Redline, but would happily accept a sponsorship as their motorcycle fork fluid is also great stuff. 🙂 What makes a hydraulic fluid great? Ability to maintain a stable viscosity across a wide range of temperatures while not breaking down quickly. Yet to use trans or fork oil that remains as stable as Redline.
