Well we know how these work. They work great initially and then something usually breaks down For this price it does the job and very good shredding ,but like the others reviews 10 sheets is not happening. It struggles with 6 but gets it done. I took the insurance on this because it’s value was fantastic. I have no confidence on any shredder lasting 3 years

This shredder works great – and best of all, it’s very quiet (I bought a different one from another manufacturer that was horrible, loud, always jammed, and returned it – this is the replacement I selected). I managed to shred a decent stack of paper (old bills) and the unit did not overheat and did not jam.

Price quite good. Quiet compared to previous shedders owned. Certainly not for heavy use. Performs the task well, but does not handle the number of sheets advertised. The cutter motor slows to less than half the normal speed when fed 10 sheets or more. I suppose it could handle the advertised number of sheets, but not for very long. Very good for my home use. I like that the trash receptacle removes without having to lift off the cutter, though it can be messy if over filled. Durability?

This shredder works great and having the wastecan that pulls out works so well for me. My old shredder required lifting the motor off the top of the shredder and reaching into the basket to clean out the shredded paper. With arthritis, that got harder to lift the motor so having a wastecan that comes out and no lifting a motor works great for me.

I’ve missed the return window on this one, but put up with it because I needed it over the last weeks. I have had an earlier model of this shredder, purchased some years ago, which was solid and dependable, easy to dump, especially when recycling paper is the goal. This model feels cheap, making me wary to shred the 10 pages at a time that is advised possible. My biggest complaint is the difficulty in emptying the bin, unlike its predecessor. Its design pretty much guarantees that, without considerable manoeuvring, shredded paper will end up on the floor. Very frustrating.

Love it it’s fast and does a great job my other one only cut one way like the fact that it cuts both ways . Very easy to empty and you can see inside the pan to know if you have to empty it.

I would of preferred that it had wheels to make it more convenient to move. The basket is not as easy to remove as my old 8x shredder but I was unable to find one online.

This is the most recent in a number of Royal Shredders I have used. It works well. The size is great for dumping shredded paper into a standard kitchen trash can. I have shredded a couple of credit cards in special slot without difficulty.

So far so good! This does what it says very well – cross cut shredding. I haven’t done credit cards yet. I try not to put 10 sheets in at a time, but that’s just my preference. I did do a “batch” the other day and it sounded kind of “overloaded/losing gusto” after I did a bit, and I don’t know if it’s cause of the shred time I spent with it, if it was the amount of paper I shredded or that I didn’t stop shredding when the bin was full. The bin fills up fast, and is easy to take out. When you see paper in the window, it’s time to empty it, so that is a good thing which I like (no guessing). When I take the bin out, I used a small hand broom (like the mini mini brooms) and wiped it back and forth along the blades (inside/underneath) and got a lot of extra cut paper that didn’t come out in the bin, that was “stuck” in the scanner part (of course do this when it’s unplugged). Oh, like the manual says, the shredder will automatically stop running, when you are done, and I suggest that you be patient and wait for it to shut off before manually turning it off. It just runs a few seconds after the paper disappears and either it’s 1) still shredding or 2) it’s just getting excess out. The port where the plug goes into the machine looks like it’s coming out and I won’t be able to exchange it because it works fine, so I am going to get an extra warranty on this with possibly SquareTrade. We’ll see. But I highly recommend this, and feel it was a worthwhile investment.
Update 7/7/15: I had this stop working on me. A paper (like small last bit of one, got stuck and it would reverse or go forward. Nothing). I contacted Royal and spoke with a live person and was advised to try using tweezers to get the little shreds of paper out/to clean it up. I spent a while doing this (but felt like cleaning and I like to clean:), and low and behold my machine was back up and running!!! If this happens to you – make sure you have unplugged it and be mindful of the blades. You will see where the paper gets clogged and you won’t really need to get too close to blades with your fingers. I have also used the oil that can accompany this and it has seemed to help a lot. Glad I go this! Recommend it highly!
