Samsung is garbage anyways. They do not support their products. My advice is to not buy from them and the same goes for sony. Sony may not be complete garbage but they have some nasty spy devices on there and to me yes I suppose it is garbage to.

This item is great. It no only is able to play DVDs and create CDs for backups and music, but also we can install software that is recorded on DVDs. It is not a DVD Burner, but is just what I needed.
(“It was mistakenly delivered to the wrong house, but my good neighbor placed it in my mailbox, and I just received it this morning. Do not include this comment in my Review.)
Don Bogott –
This product was shipped expediently, and appeared to be as described, and in good condition. I did have a computer problem about that time though, and had to replace my computer, so I had no need for this unit. I was able to return this unit with no difficulty.
Cynthia A. Horne –
Product works just fine and it compatible with my system. Will deal again and will recommend to others.

I put it thought a number of tests with Nero Discspeed and it passed with flying colors. Have used once to burn a CD and the disc played without issues. So far so good. However, longevity seems to be the issue with these optical drives. Could be one of the reasons they are so inexpensive nowadays.

These things only last a year or so with heavy use so I pick one up every time I see a pop up add. I buy what ever brand is on sale. I am an MCSE and I am Intel and AMD certified. As of this writing I can tell you, most of the cheap name brand burners that I have used work fine. Never had one DOA. I use a mixture of old and state of the art technology. Why fix it if it is not broke. I have a few nice 478 systems with IDE drives in them and I buy these when I can find them. They are as good as you can get for the money. I think I paid $15 delivered to my house. Lasted 6 months so far and still going strong. But it if you can get it at the right price. Get a good year or two out of it, trash it and buy another cheap one. You won’t be sorry.
Ron Chicot –
i purchased one of these from another source. This thing never worked. The dvd or cd won’t spin. Opened it up and realized it had a bad motor(the thing with spins the disc)! i’m disappointed
