I have been using this for years. It lasts forever. A sticker I put on a window 4 years ago still stays in place even with daily direct sunlight. the color on the sticker itself is already pretty much washed out due to the sunlight, but the tape still sticks. Great product!

I use this tape for all kinds of small things and I’m always finding more. It is extremely durable and long lasting and I’ve never had it fail on anything that I’ve stuck it on. Some things have been mounted for 3+ years with this stuff.
These are just some of the things that we’ve used it for so far. I keep it on hand at all times just in case we need it for some other crazy project. It can be easily cut and trimmed to hide the tape so you don’t’ see it sticking around the edges if you just take the time to make it look great.
1. Mounting my stereo’s external microphone in a place the mic clip wouldn’t work.
2. Mounting a key holder by the front door after the original sticky back had to be removed to move it from house to house.
3. Keeping some shelves that sit on brackets on a peg board from sliding.
4. Keeping the non-skid, slightly padded shelf liner in the cabinets in place by putting small pieces at the corners.
5. Mounting some decorations and signs in the house.

Used under my new kitchen cabinets to hold ribbon LED lights. This tape held the lights ok but didn’t stick all that well to the smooth finish cabinet bottom. I would suggest cleaning any surface you wish to use this on. It helps although still less than satisfied with holding power.

REMOVING OBJECTS SECURED WITH 3M PERMANENT MOUNTING TAPE: Well, “permanent” generally means just that: Permanent. But there are ways to finesse removing objects from fragile walls, or removing fragile objects from indestructible (e.g., brick) walls. Or both!
The first, and simplest, way is to work a length of strong dental floss back and forth between the object and the wall, gently cutting the tape. Of course this will leave a layer of tape on the wall, and a corresponding layer of tape on the back of the object you just removed. But a single-edge razor blade usually solves the residual tape problem for the wall and, if you’re careful, for the back of your picture frame as well. A goop-removal liquid also helps remove traces of tape.
The second technique is a variant of the first. For really, truly, intractable tape removal problems, get a length of fine picture-hanging wire. Untwist the strands until you have a single strand, then proceed as above. But be careful – – the wire can (will) cut your fingers if you are too aggressive in sawing it back and forth. To protect your fingers, especially the afternoon before your piano debut at Canegie Hall, wrap a band-aid or two around each finger to prevent cuts.
Note: These techniques also work for removing defunct EZ-PASS transponders from your windshield. Dental floss is the better choice here.
If all else fails, a cold chisel and a three-pound sledge is quite effective, but then you have the problem of vacuuming up the pieces.

This stuff is super durable! Obviously way better than your average command strips. I’ve used this to hang up heavy items and it hasn’t budged for weeks now. The only downside is it can be hard to remove by itself, but I found that applying a little heat (blow dryer) helps it peel off nicely.

This is likely very good tape. However, not being able to determine width is a negative point.

I’ve used this tape for years to hold wall picture frames in place and it works perfectly for that as it’s strong and double sided. No more crooked pictures you have to fiddle with. It also doesn’t show from the front / sides if you put it on the back of the picture frame just “slightly” in from the edge, but not too much and here’s why.
As others have stated – be aware that when you go to remove the picture from the wall, it WILL peel off part of the paint and even some of the wall if you’re impatient. What I now do (after years of learning) to take a picture frame off the wall without damaging the underlying paint or wall is this:
1. First – you don’t need more that one hold point on the picture for the tape — one small square of tape on a bottom corner for example. It’s strong. Put it on the frame back at a point where you will be able to get at it / reach it later when you want to take the frame off the wall.
2. Then I use a simple utility knife (like a box cutter tool with a single sided razor from Home Depot e.g.), cutting carefully within the layer of the tape between the wall and the frame. If you’ve only used a small square and put it close to the edge, this isn’t too hard. This will leave some of the tape on the wall — which is OK — and which you can rub to peel off, then finish the wall off quickly with a degreaser or glue remover — then wipe clean right away with water. Works

We doubled this up to put behind a mirror that was knocking against the wall. It provided cushioning. And, with it sticking to both the mirror and the wall, it worked wonders!
I did a fun show today on Zoom. It is called the Social Distancing Social Hour. But, boy howdy! Leading up to it I was a mess. It was only 5 minutes of Stand Up comedy. Which, after all these years, is a snap. BUT. The big catch was I didn’t know how the rest of the show worked. Would I have to interact with people? Improv? Answer questions? ROAST PEOPLE AND BE ROASTED?!?! But, everyone was really nice. And, some folks even tipped. Which was lovely. It’s funny how the unknown can just create such havoc in my mind. I’m awful with having to come up with things on the spot. It’s why I never went down the Improv path. And, I consider myself more of a person who writes jokes and then performs them than a “Stand Up Comic”. Anyway, it felt like a victory to get through it and have done ok.
This double-sided stick tape is a great thing to have around the house. And, for the price, it’s worth getting “just to have”. For mounting things or for providing a nice cushion when needed. TOTALLY recommend!
