I have placed on of these drives in a NAS as a single source for storage to run it through its paces. This is designed for NAS and while I cannot say how it performs in a RAID scenario, it was able to do as hopefully expected with reads and writes and play nice with the NAS OS.

Having to compare to a 5 bay older NAS with 4 tb drives, the single drive in the NAS does appear to be a bit noisy. The three facets are – NAS case design, the drive itself and not being engage in a RAID. I know that larger drives can be a bit noisy and I’ll make adjustments externally to neutralize some of the noise and more so, when populated with other same drives for RAID.

I got this drive at a good price from* Amazon itself and will soon check with Seagate on their warranty. Last- yes, assuming no issues in the near future, I would buy again… 2-3 more of these.

The drives are pretty good, speedy and perform well. However, out of 15 drives, 2 of them were DOA and 2 of them failed within a few months. I would not recommend using these without some kind of data protection redundancy, just in case.

Their warranty replacement is excellent, however, with only one exception: You need to pay shipping costs to send the defective drive back. Still, it beats the price of a brand new drive.

Firstly the seller is super quick at shipping out. I expected this to take 5 to 7 days to get and I got it in 2. The first one I ordered was not functional, I contacted the seller about returning it and they were quick with responding and make sure I knew how the process worked. Sent it back and reordered hoping the second would work, recieved it today and works fantasticly. Super happy

The Seagate IronWolf Pro 10TB NAS Internal Hard Drive is an absolute game-changer for anyone serious about their Network Attached Storage (NAS) setup. After several months of rigorous use, I can confidently say this drive has exceeded my expectations in every way.

First and foremost, the 10TB storage capacity provides ample space for my extensive multimedia collection, critical backups, and countless files. This capacity is a sweet spot for users who need a balance between space and cost-effectiveness. The performance is top-notch, with the 7200 RPM spinning speed ensuring swift data access and transfer speeds.

One of the standout features for me is the CMR (Conventional Magnetic Recording) technology. This ensures consistent, reliable performance even under heavy workloads, making it ideal for demanding environments. I’ve experienced no drop in speed or reliability, even during simultaneous, high-bandwidth access from multiple devices.

The 256MB cache is a crucial component, significantly boosting read and write speeds for frequently accessed files. This cache has made a noticeable difference in the fluidity and responsiveness of my NAS, particularly during peak usage times.

What truly sets the IronWolf Pro apart is its compatibility with RAID setups. Whether you’re running RAID 0 for maximum speed or RAID 1 for redundancy, these drives handle the load with grace. The reliability and consistency under RAID configurations are nothing short of impressive.

Seagate’s Rescue Services is the cherry on top of an already stellar package. Knowing that my data is backed by Seagate’s data recovery service provides peace of mind that’s truly priceless. I haven’t had to use it yet, but it’s reassuring to know it’s there.

Installation was a breeze, thanks to the SATA 6Gb/s interface, and the drive runs cool and quiet, even during extended usage periods. It’s clear that Seagate has put serious thought into both the performance and longevity of this drive.

In terms of value, while it’s an investment, the IronWolf Pro’s durability, reliability, and performance justify the price tag. I consider it a long-term investment in my data security and storage needs.

In summary, the Seagate IronWolf Pro 10TB NAS Internal Hard Drive is a testament to Seagate’s commitment to quality and performance. It’s a rock-solid choice for anyone serious about their NAS system. The combination of high capacity, CMR technology, RAID compatibility, and Rescue Services make this drive a standout performer in its class. Highly recommended!

I’m using these in a Synology DS1621xs+ NAS. I have 4 of these drives installed in it so far and I’m planning to add another two soon enough. I have the drives in a RAID6 configuration and they have been working perfectly, no issues at all and fast data access (each drive can do around 250MB/s read at the high end from what I’ve seen). They are a bit noisy but not horrible. I’d say definitely don’t use these if you’re going to have your NAS sitting in your living room without any kind of enclosure. I’m in the process of building an enclosure for mine. Overall I’m loving these drives and the price vs capacity is about as good as you’ll be able to find right now.
