Totally in love with my Shark. (Yes, should get out more.) Seriously though all the excellent reviews are correct and they decided my purchase. Superb machine. Tested it on arrival on just a portion of shag carpet and could not believe what it picked up. I am too ashamed to show you all the photo. Some reviews say it is not so efficient on hard floors. I have not found that. It is a superb cleaner of carpeted and hard wood floors at a very competitive price. So glad I have it. So glad too that I chose cordless and bagless. Easy to charge it is also a good looking vacuum – if that is what floats your boat – looking more expensive than it is. Very highly recommended without hesitation.

This replaces an old cordless by a different manufacturer that died after many years of great service. The
Shark’s suction is good and emptying the waste container is well designed. But on everything else it fails in comparison. It is very loud, a full charge is only enough for about 200 sq ft of broadloom, the power/speed control button is on the top front of the beater head and awkward to access compared to a switch by the hand-grip and problematic if the power head gets caught by or under anything, the powerhead is quite tall and does not reach under furniture that our other vacuums could access, unlike our other vacs the Shark will not pick up visible dirt particles close to a wall because of its head design. We bought this through Amazon because local dealers did not carry that model. Now we know why. It could be handy for a quick pass every couple of days to pick up tracked-in dirt in high-traffic areas but several shortfalls in wider use.

I love this simple little lightweight vacuum cleaner. It does take several hours to charge, but has lots of power, cleans well and easy to use. No cord to drag around. One of the few products that actually works for pet hair. Easy to empty and clean or change filters.

Yes, I did just say that. Because this is the best vacuum ever. I don’t want to say this vacuum changed my life, because that sounds incredibly pathetic, but it kind of did. I am pretty sure I have vacuumed more in the last month than I have in my entire life. I show it to people when they come to visit and give them demonstrations. Not kidding.
My husband saw his parents using it and when he came home from visiting them, the first thing we did was go out and buy this vacuum.
I was skeptical.
Every other vacuum I’ve ever encountered was heavy, awkward, inconvenient, tangly, frustrating, hard to store, and broke the minute you looked at it. It didn’t matter what you spent on it–a lot or a little–it was still awful. I had given up on ever finding any vacuum that was not awful.
This vacuum is aptly named. I am “free” to pick it up at any time with no janky cord in my way! It doesn’t cramp my “style” because it is easy-to-use and maneuver, and super light to carry around, even up and down stairs. It is very “sucky”! I can’t believe all the stuff I clean out of the bagless bag (which is effortless to clean out, just unclip it from the vacuum and then open the compartment and dump everything in it into the trash–so easy!!) each time I run it through the house. The charge lasts quite a while. We have a three bedroom home with both carpet and non-carpet floors, and I can do a quick vacuum of the whole house on a single charge. The charging stand is sleek and does not get in the way, whether or not the vacuum is on it. My husband and I both have long hair and we have several cats, but it’s easy to cut off any hair that gathers around the roller–no unscrewing things or wrangling with taking things apart–and it gathers cat hair like you wouldn’t believe. I use it daily to keep the kitchen crumb-free and around the areas of our cats’ litterboxes and food dishes, and every few days around the whole house.
We still have a super intense vacuum for occasional “deep vacuuming,” but on a daily/weekly/casual basis, this vacuum is the bomb (yes, I also just said that), especially because it is such a good price. We paid $100 for ours and have said numerous times that it’s the best $100 we’ve ever spent.
The only thing I wish is that I could vacuum my furniture with it. I might be able to and just don’t know it; I haven’t really looked at accessories yet.
I’d better go! I’m sure there’s a crumb on the kitchen floor that needs the attention of me and my awesome Shark Navigator Freestyle. *flies away, cape billowing out behind her*

Edit 5/26/14 – I have an update that I thought I should share with everyone. Sadly, my beloved vacuum died a tragic death a few weeks ago while we were on vacation. Since the last person to use it was our housesitter, I do not know the exact circumstances of its death, but I mourned. I wanted to say, though, that this in no way diminished my love of this vacuum. No vacuum lasts forever, and this one lasted for eight months with near daily use. To replace it, we tried another, more expensive, swankier cordless stick vacuum and it was truly awful (check my other reviews if you want to know which one it was). We returned that one, and I came right here and ordered another of this one. I used it this morning, and all is right with the world again. Best vacuum ever and at $100 it’s a steal. I shall never stray from it again!! Honestly, I am thinking of buying a spare of this vacuum in case they decide to stop making it.

I’ve been using and constantly fixing a Dyson DC-35 Animal Digital Slim for a few years. Battery life was abysmal right out of the box – literally 5 minutes on high, below which there is just no point using it. The power roller head tangles to the point of being completely ineffective just vacuuming the stairs after one small, medium-hair cat. At six months the roller head stopped spinning if it encountered any resistance at all despite constant brush cleaning and being very well maintained.
I finally had enough when the battery posts had to be sanded to even recharge the battery (why many Dysons fail and they do a lot of business in replacement batteries) and we ordered this Shark Navigator – good grief, what a huge, huge improvement.
My Dyson barely ran long enough to do our stairs and fought me the whole way. This Shark did the stairs, all of the upstairs carpets and two large area rugs downstairs with ample battery remaining. No battling with the roller head, no brush stopping randomly, no power cutouts with the trigger depressed. I ran the Shark on it’s high power and have yet to run out of battery going over our 2700 sq ft house. It also does not quickly (or at all so far) clog the filter easily with dust during use.
It’s also well worth mentioning that on stairs it pulled a surprising amount of stuff up that the Dyson was obviously missing – one day after running the Dyson over the same area.
It has much better suction and the roller head has done six complete vacuums of the house now without my having to clean anything other than dump the dirt/hair into the trash. Which is simplicity itself.
We like the floor drop in charger and it does a significantly better job on hardwood floors too.
It’s a bit awkward on the stairs – especially if you have shallow or narrow stairs as you need to support the main stick part but nothing my 10 year old daughter couldn’t handle in her happy test runs.
I will update this in a few months or sooner if any issues but this is so superior in performance in every way to a $300 Dyson that 1. I’m an idiot for putting up with the Dyson for so long and 2. I’ll never go back.
I could buy one for upstairs and one for down and still come out ahead with none of the frustration that is owning an overpriced underwhelming DC35.

This is so easy to maneuver and clean, it’s lightweight, quiet and cordless. My kids even use it flawlessly in their rooms. It goes from carpet to hardwood simply by the tap of your foot. It has no attachments. It works great

Was in the market for a smaller, cordless vacuum for quick jobs – without having to haul out a larger vacuum and fight with the cord.
Many of the stick vacuums were not well made and was just a dustbuster with a detachable handle.
We have used the Shark brand in the past and were happy with the quality – this one followed suit. Well made, great suction and light-weight. Not quite sure how long the charge lasts as we haven’t used it for more than 20-25 minutes and it still had charge left. Easy to clean and love the charger that goes on the floor so you just place the vacuum right back again. (no bending over). The on/off feature as well as tilt are all on the power head as well so there are no buttons to worry about and all foot operated.
