This vacuum has performed flawlessly, with respect to everything. That never ever happens to me. I rarely review, but Shark has earned it.
I have a German Shepherd/Pit Bull hybrid. He takes after the German Shepherd when it comes to shedding. It amazes me, every year, how much hair he has. When he walks by, and happens to be in a sunbeam, you can watch the hair falling off his body. This vacuum said it had a self-cleaning roller. I usually “grain of salt” those types of claims as just marketing lies. After two weeks of use, and several times emptying the base, I needed to take the roller out. There was no hair at all. To be fair, he’s a short hair, but we also have a Maine Coon cat; he’s long hair and no slouch at shedding.
What I can say for sure is this: I cannot imagine anybody having a complaint about this machine if it is functioning the way it is intended.
The negative reviews seem to be with regard to Customer Service, connectivity, legitimate programming glitches, and perceived programming glitches.
I’ve seen a couple of reviews that say their machine bumbled around hitting things over and over. They may well be right. In that case, the programming may be glitchy. [This is where the less-than-stellar reviews come in: customer service, something I’ve not experienced] A different one would likely fix it.
I am of the opinion that some reviewers have created their own bumbling robot. The machine makes a map of your house and uses it every time it cleans. Mine knows where things are with impressive precision. But, if you move something, like a chair, then yeah, to get around and vacuum close to what the robot thinks is an obstacle, it’s going to use its front “feeler” bar.
Once, my wife accidentally kicked the robot off its stand during the middle of the day. To our surprise and on its own, the robot got back on his stand.
Works in the dark, quiet enough to sleep while it is vacuuming hard wood floors.
    I couldn’t be happier.

UPDATED 7.13.2022: About 4 months ago, my Shark deleted the map it made of my house. That’s what it uses to efficiently clean the house and it lets you design “No Vaccuum Zones” such as under your table where it gets lost for hours trying to navigate chair legs, or where that rug is that is really plush and prevents the robot from getting up onto it. Anyway, I’ve remapped and re-set up my rooms and no-go zones multiple times only for the app to delete them again. I’ve read online that it’s a very common problem, but good luck getting anyone in Support to look at it.

Without this functionality, it’s just another dumb robot. Don’t waste your time buying it for the “Mapping” functionality.

I’ve been rocking at Roombak 699 for many years. Three batteries, countless brushes, and a new dustbin lever later, and I knew it was time for an upgrade.

I purchased this Shark unit, not really knowing what to expect. I should have done this a long time ago.

    Let’s start with the obvious:
    – The Shark unit has a predictable cleaning pattern. Once it has run several times, it’ll create a decent map of your house. You’ll want to go in and create “rooms” or “zones” so you can tell it where you want it to clean (or don’t). You can also create “no go zones” without having to stick those infrared, battery powered units all over the place. Once this is all set up, this unit will clean your house–taking as long as it takes. For my house, that usually means going back to the home unit to dump its collector a couple of times. Every now and then, it needs to recharge. Roomba didn’t do that. It would zig and zag back and forth until it ultimately just lost charge and maybe it cleaned everything, but probably not.

    – My Roomba was really loud. So loud, you couldnt’ work or watch TV or carry on a conversation with it running. My kids even asked me not to run it at night because it woke them up (and it was downstairs and they were upstairs). The Shark unit is at least half as quiet so we don’t mind running it when we’re all here working or just putzing around.

    – How well does it clean? Maybe not as well, but that is made up for by the fact that it can climb over rugs and clean the entire house in one day versus maybe it takes 2-3 days with the Roomba and it gets stuck on half a dozen things, including “cliffs” that aren’t cliffs.

We have a mix of hard floors and fairly thick-pile carpet.

If you’re wondering if it’s worth saving a few hundred dollars on a Shark and “trying it out,” you should go for it. I’m glad I did.

I am SO impressed with this little robo vacuum! I did a lot of research before purchasing as we have a dog who sheds a lot, and this truly does live up to the reviews. We have carpeted floor and it’s able to pull a lot of the hair out of the carpet. If you run it once a day or every other day with a shedding dog, you will be in good shape.

It mapped our entire floor perfectly in the first run. I was blown away. The technology has come so far! The app is clean and intuitive. It also makes setting up the Shark very easy. After it is finished mapping, you can add labels to each room, and schedule it to run at certain times, and in the rooms that you choose. If it gets full while it’s doing the cleaning session, it will find its way back to the docking station, empty the dust and dirt, and then go back to wherever it left off. The only downside is that it can only map one floor in your house. If you’re in a two story house, you can still use it on other floors by moving it to the floor you want to clean, and pressing the “clean” button on top of the vacuum, but you won’t be able to do this from the app.

It is fairly quiet, and has a low profile. It’s able to sneak under beds and tight to reach places very well. Battery life seems great and no concerns there. The docking station is small enough that it isn’t an eyesore. It comes with a nice little mat that the robot drives onto. When the robot docks itself, empties into the docking reservoir after a few seconds. This part is fairly loud, but only lasts a few seconds.

For the money, you truly can’t beat this powerful little robot!

Delivery quick. This thing takes time to learn. Give it several days to get your layout. It does some silly things like go from one room to another for no apparent reason. Maybe to check or something or if it missed a spot. My floors are clean and seems to do OK on the bedroom carpet. Cat hair 🙁 Pretty easy to clean. Although, Filters and such will need to be cleaned and you will need a screwdriver long enough for some areas to remove screws to remove filters. Overall the system is not bad and could use some app work and maybe a better sensor system so it does not try and run up onto certain furniture. It does what I need it too and that’s what matters. Time will tell how it holds up. So far so good 🙂

Sold to the uk, but with a us plug and suitable for 120v 60hz. So totally useless. And now they’re refusing to return it. Advert says 240vac and the questions say it’s a uk plug. But it’s just a plain lie. Not clear whether I’ll get my £750 back. Totally disgusting
