Great calculator does the job. Our old Sharp died of old age and it’s been hard to find a replacement. It’s quicker than using an app on the iPad.

I really appreciate this Metric Converter/Calculator because it is easy to use and more dependable for my needs, during my travels through Europe, than popular Apps that may or not be acessible while traveling. I had difficulty finding a Metric converter in stores, until I happened upon this Sharp calculator through Amazon. I use it daily when I need to know temperatures in Europe and/or translate metric dimensions into American measurements. I love it!

This is a normal calculator with the addition of many function buttons for converting between metric and imperial measurements, e.g., square meters to square feet, liters to gallons, km to miles, lbf./sq. inch to kilopascals, Fahrenheit to Celsius, kilocalories to kilojoules, and many others. This involves pressing the number in question, a to metric or from metric key, and the function key appropriate to the conversion desired; a bit awkward but reasonably quick anyway. There are 22 different conversions available (though one I would have liked that wasn’t there was lbf. to newtons). The calculator itself is both solar and battery powered and has basic math functions, though it would have been more useful to me if it had an ability to do exponents other than square roots. As it is, a nice device to have handy, especially if you find a scientific calculator too complicated.

Great Calculator that I have used my entire career in technical drafting.
Simple calculator that I was able to use this for my college exams and loved this because of its continuous solar power capability – never a low battery issue. The unit I used for well over 30 years has failed and this replacement has no differences to the one I retired.

Lot’s of great features that are easy to use and hard to find in other user friendly units. I have been using mine for a couple of years now and in fact bought two of them, one for my office and one for my hobby workshop. Liked the first one so much I ordered a second one from Amazon shortly after using the first one. The 10 digit display is very nice and the metric conversion feature is easy to use, going in either direction. Perhaps the most interesting feature is the fraction converter. How many times have you wondered what some fraction would be when displayed as a decimal number, or vice versa? This calculator easily does that. I use it all the time in my home office and workshop for household or model hobby needs. This is the most useful general purpose calculator I have in my house.

For the price, you can’t get any better. Why then 4 star, it’s because of the plastic sleeve and how it is attached onto the calculator plus it would be nice if it have mm conversion. Yes I know cm and mm is just 1 place of the decimal but as my engineer drawing conversion is in to mm it would of been nice.
Works good. Small but not too small (almost the size of my galaxy s5). Soft button is a plus and it have dual power, solar and battery.
My main use is for converting pounds to kilograms and from inches to centimeter.

Very poor performance in conversion Feet and inches to Metric

Wow! This Sharp EL344RB calculator does everything. It can actually calculate fractions. And it can mix decimals with fractions. It also has metric and USA measurement conversions as well as foreign currency buy / sell conversion. For a small calculator it has a large display. Many other calculators loose their currency conversion entries after they time out. Not this one. You can pick it up 2 days later and it still has your foreign conversion detail in memory. It also has a constant multiplicand – great for figuring your net pay without repeatedly entering the Gross amount. It has dual power and comes with a nice folding vinyl case. This is not a complicated device. Some of the features are not intuitive, but within 30 minutes you can learn all of the features. No engineering degree from MIT required. Any 12yr old with a half a brain can use this, It’s quite accurate.it’s calculations are always correct. In fact it’s a great toy. I’m always trying to fool it. For the price, a bargain, without having to drag out my laptop or tablet and call up the correct apps. I wholeheartedly recommend this calculator.

Happy circumstance: I remember enough arithmetic from my school days, to do basic calculations with pencil and paper, or in my head (cashiers are always amazed … 😎 ).
But as an American interested in European and world affairs, the calculations I cannot do easily are: American measurements to Metric, Metric to American. A never-ending source of annoyance.
This little calculator solves the problem very well. Must own 4 of them (2 I can’t find: also annoying).
My only criticism would be: the labels for the various types of calculation can be difficult to read, because I have to take off my glasses (very near-sighted, and getting to an age, sad to write …).
Definitely a “Don’t leave home without it!” gadget. Also much handier than the iPhone.

I’m not a complete failure at mental arithmetic. To change from miles to meters just divide by point six. OK, how many meters are in 1179 miles? I admit I wouldn’t even attempt the calculation. I would just whip out my trusty metric conversion wallet calculator. Oh, I would still work out that 1200 was 2000 so that if I made a major error typing it in I would know that I wasn’t even approximately right. However, I would still use the calculator for accurate results.
