The cooling menthol feels great. I’m a head shaver and I do get razer burn occasionally. I’ve used this kit with the pre shave ,shave cream, and after shave balm. It’s been working great with keeping the razor burn away. The cooling sensation of the menthol is real nice to me. The scent of the after shave balm is very subtle, the pre shave and shave cream are nice and strong scents. I really like it.

I’ve only used it a couple days, but let’s see, what to say?
1. The cardboard packaging inside doesn’t keep things in place. Your lotion boxes will probably get a little beat up. For a ‘gift set’ this is pretty poor planning on Proraso’s part!
2. The preshave and aftershave containers are really cute! They’re shaped like the Proraso logo lol.
3. The tube of shaving cream is this heavy oldschool metal tube. I wish it weren’t metal. Oh well. Mine looked a little misshapen from being beat up during shipping.
4. The shaving cream feels great and you need very little to get a good layer on your face, a lot less than what I need when I use cremo. That’s great! It feels very airy and light.
5. The preshave is incredibly strong. As I said, it feels like rubbing vicks vaporub on my face! I.. don’t hate that feeling lol. It’s just very loud and vibrant.
6. Compared to the preshave, the after shave is SUPER muted and nice. TBH I kinda prefer the nivea cooling aftershave balm? This feels almost the same, but without the cooling part. The bottle is cuter, but I like the top Nivea uses better.. so there’s that.
Overall, I’m pretty happy! The set was a pretty good price and the tin is really cool. Also, FYI: There are 2 silver stickers – one on either side, thajt are supposed to seal the tin. My first tin was very clearly opened and returned, so I exchanged it. The second one is pristine, but the stickers weren’t very secure lol. If your stickers are not secure or they’re stuck under the top, don’t worry, I think the factory is just sloppy and doesn’t seal these correctly. It doesn’t mean your kit was opened.
I’m pretty happy! I look forward to using this for more shaves! 🙂 Also props to Amazon for making a super fast turnaround on the replacement!

I’m becoming a die hard fan of Pro Raso shaving cream. This tin has some of their “pre-shave” treatment cream — seems to help a bit on my neck’s sensitive spots and gives me a smoother shave –, shaving cream, and aftershave balm. This variety’s classice eucalyptis & menthol scent is refreshing and brisk. The tin is rather nice too — quaint retro design — and can be reused for keeping other things in. I have the lid of the Toccasana tin in my medicine cabinet for a retro, nostalgic look.
I’ve found the pre-shave is more than just a luxury, when I do a few things before lathering up (I shave after the shower to get my beard soft) it keeps the whiskers moist and soft for a smooth single-blade shave.
In all, I like this, the apple & lime (Toccasana gift set for sensitive skin) and the “blue” variety (protective and moisturinging, with aloe and Vitamin E; spicy scent with amber & musk notes) a lot, both for the scents, quality, and value-for-dollar. Grazie, Proraso!

All three of the items included are great and I would happily buy them all individually. With this purchase you get them at a discount. A shave with a proper pre-shave, cream, and aftershave product is an experience that you should try if you haven’t. I wish I discovered the world of double edged shaving before I hit 50! These are great for a morning shave because the eucalyptus is invigorating. For an evening shave, I go with TOBS sandalwood. This purchase comes in a cool, retro box that I display in my bathroom. Highly recommended.

TOTAL class. The super cool vintage tin also makes it a natural gift and is worth keeping around. If you haven’t tried preshaving cream or Proraso in general before—warning, there’s no going back. This kit plus a good boar bristle shaving brush and bowl opens up a new world of shaving excellence. You’ll wonder why you ever settled for less.
The essential preshaving cream in particular is expensive to replace, but a tiny amount does its thing very well when applied using the brush. By the time you add the shaving cream over it, the combined rich lather (and of course a high quality razor) makes it so easy to get the smoothest, closest shave ever! Never fails to make you feel like a million bucks, and the products have such clean, complimentary scents when all three are used together. The more subtle aftershave balm is a perfect finish. I think of what it must have been like to be Dean Martin getting ready to hit the stage at The Sands in the early days….definitely old school class, a sophisticated experience that never goes out of style.

The proraso kit includes the materials needed for an incredible shave and prep for before and after the shaving process. The brush is soft and has good weight. The shaving cream lathers up beautifully and the pre shave balm works great to open up the skin. And the aftershave smells incredible and for an alcohol inclusive aftershave the burn is minimal.
