Wow it’s been a bit since I fell in love with a book and gave it full stars. Don’t let the fact it’s a YA novel fool you, the way David writes is amazing and keeps you interested.
Hunter and Chloe are in high school and are head over heels for each other. They go to Homecoming together and leave together making Hunter the last person to see Chloe.
This story has many twists and suspects in the disappearance of Chloe that you just keep guessing. Everything flows and builds up the right amount all the way to the end, which is a shocker! I couldn’t wait till Tyler got home to tell him all about it, love that man for intently listening to me ramble on even if he isn’t into books like I am. 🤣
I love the ending about how we girls need to stick together, you’ll know more when you read it!! 😜

Back at school, his fellow students taunt him, and his former best friend starts making a true-crime documentary about the case—one that points the finger directly at Hunter. And just when things can’t get any worse, Chloe’s mother stands in front of the entire town at a candlelight vigil and accuses Hunter of murder.

My Thoughts:
She’s Gone is the story of Hunter and Chloe, and what happened to them at Homecoming and before…before she disappeared. Whatever went on between them was forgotten by Hunter, blocked out, and despite what others believe, he is determined that there are answers and that he isn’t guilty.
We watch as he and some of his friends search for answers, but along the way to finding out the truth, more obstacles appear.
Hunter’s voice is compelling, and no matter what comes up, I am rooting for him. Feeling that there is more to the story.
I liked how we keep following clues, not knowing where they’ll lead, and then, surprisingly, we seem to stumble on the truth. Stunned, but not really that surprised. A 4.5 star read.

I “discovered” David Bell’s books 5-6 years ago. I was perusing Barnes and Noble, and one of his books was on one of their tables for new releases. I liked the title, so I read the blurb and decided to give it a shot. Less than a week later, I was on Amazon, buying all of the books he’d published up to that point. I buy his books on release day every year, and have enjoyed every one of them.
This one though, I feel like is more young adult than his other offerings. I have no problem with this, as I love young adult lit. I devoured this, book talked it to my English classes, and put it in my classroom library.
I thought I knew “whodunit,” and I did, but not until right before it was revealed. This was a wild ride, and so very worth the time to read it.
