Bought a cheap bike, broke the sprocket and needed to replace it without dumping a ton of money. This was an easy direct fit replacement for cheap money. If you’re replacing a crank, GET THE CRANK REMOVAL TOOL! Its the best $10 you’ll spend trying to remove the old one.

I`ve been using this type of crankset for years. They last forever with proper maintenance. The arms are aluminum, but the rings are steel. Steel rings wear very slowly. My first set lasted me 12,000 miles! I convert old mountain bikes for road riding, but they usually have 42-32-22 rings, and 170mm arms. Not good gearing for the road. These 48-38-28 rings, coupled with an 11-28 rear cassette, provide plenty of high end speed, and low enough gearing to tackle any incline. 175mm arms provide better cadence for road riding too. The only downside is that it`s square taper. You will have to retorque 4 or 5 times, then put some blue Locktite on the treads. The bolts are notorious for working their way loose. Also, use a set of 14mm head bolts instead of the cheap hex bolts provided with bottom brackets these days. One last thing, ditch the chain guard, it`s hideous!

I have a 35 year old 21 speed Giant Yukon mountain bike. I have replace just about every component on this bike except the shifters. Now I have replaced the crank. Perfect fit and it does come with both arms. All I had to do was adjust the derailers a little bit and it works fine.

I bought a GTX-1 a couple of years ago and rode it sporadically, last weekend the right pedal stripped out and left me to walk the bike back home. Upon reviewing I noticed the left pedal was doing the same. It would have cost over $100 to put an insert into the crank arms. If you are mechanical, $40 will get you a quality crank set and a puller. I went ahead and also picked up new pedals as aluminum had wedged into the originals. You will need a 5/16″ Allen drive to install. It took me just under an hour to remove the old crank set and install the new Shimano. The 175 arms are easier to pedal and the threads were clean, I was able to completely thread the new aluminum units without any issue as others seemed to have encountered, long term has yet to be seen but they seem solid. Be smart and use a little anti seize as it’s a steel Pedal shaft threading into an aluminum crank arm. Pedals cost me $10 so really for under $50 I completely fixed and upgraded a $350 bike that was now useless. I also like that the dust cover is incorporated into the crank bolt. I can’t guarantee fitment but if you have a square tapered 2 piece crank set, it will probably get you back on the road. In my opinion, this was a great bargain. If you aren’t mechanical, pick it up and have a local shop swap it, it would still be cheaper than doing inserts on factory crank arms.

When I’m looking for parts that I need for my multiple bikes, I choose Shimano… As I rebuild my 10-year-old Mongoose XR-75 mountain bike, I have (or have planned) Shimano parts all over it (RapidFire brake/shifter combos, Tourney derailleurs, front & rear chain groups)… They just work flawlessly, and they’re cheap enough for the average guy to afford on a poverty-level paycheck…
I chose this larger set of chainrings for a little bit of extra speed, not necessarily torque… I live in a completely flat area, so I don’t need hill-climbing power…

I had the original 170cm and replaced it due to wear. this went on easy, the threading for the cranks were easy and clean. I would put the tiniest lubricant made for this process on the inner arms as in nearly fingerprint level thin. It helps take them off and block water, corrosion, etc. For my Cannondale Quick 6 xl 2021 this is a perfect fit and length. I am 6’5″ and slightly longer cranks help move the whole system a bit faster.

This unit seems to be a lower grade to where it’s all riveted together. It’s made of steel but the arms are made of aluminum. The outer ring chain guard is made of plastic. It’s all riveted together. Looks to me like this might be one of the lower ends that they offer. But it bolted right on and I had two arms and two bolts. The manual you have to download with the QR code but does not really much of a manual it’s just talks about safety stuff. Anyways there’s my review
