The sound signature is forward, projected and bassy yet sublime . It is a compact bar. Sound becomes better than your expectation only after you do adjustment after connecting to TV. Especially the decibel dB adjustment after going into manual speaker settings, after disabling 360 sound. Front speaker maximum 4 db. Then optimise. Then enable 360 sound. You get best sound. Sony is selling these great A series speakers thinking people will do these adjustments in dB level but very few are able to calibrate it hence most are not getting the Sony brand sound and are frustrated and complaining. To say the truth the A series of sony is better than all other brands but calibration is the problem. The high ends are not sharp or ear peicrcing but sublime. Cons about the 3000.1. The most important con is this bar is highly priced .2.Sound feild is little narrow but for the price paid we expect little more big feild. .Otherwise really sublime quality for Sony lovers but price often falls in the category of 5000 is the most important worrying aspect. Pricing should be similar to hts 2000.My Score for movies 7.0/10,for music 7.4/10. Overall 5000 may be little better and more open and straight forward but the 3000 is more sublime than you expect it. Another SECRET TO GREAT SOUND I AM GOING TO REVEAL HERE IS THE HEIGHT AND SOUND FIELD DIRECTION adjustments. It is really Worth around 30 to 40 k. Finally Another rare marvellous piece of technology from Sony provided you do the calibration. If you don’t calibrate it is an above average bar with mostly inconsistent performances. Hope you found this review useful and helpful!

I’ve had this for about a year and now I need to update the software. However, it won’t update. No matter how many times I try or unplug and replug, it refuses to update. Meanwhile, the TV right above it updates just fine, so it’s not a network error. Other than that, it sounds okay. Good thing I just bought this for my bedroom, or I’d be more than just annoyed.

For reference, I use the HT-S2000 in the primary bedroom, paired with a smart TV which I stream all content from. I also own two other Atmos soundbars, being the Sony HT-Z9F and Samsung HW-Q930B. I would not cross-shop the HT-S2000 to those as they both have the obvious benefits that come from separate subwoofer and surround speakers. However, I have used the HT-Z9F both with and without the surround and subwoofer, and the HT-S2000 is significantly better sounding in that scenario. Just make sure to set up this unit correctly!
Where most reviews miss the mark on this model is that it’s better suited to rooms where you don’t want to add a subwoofer or surround speakers. Both the bass and the sound field from this standalone unit is impressive.
For setup, you must change the Sound Field setting from Sony (default) to Dolby, as I found the Dolby setting gave me the clear and full sound I was hoping for. By contrast, the Sony setting sounded compressed and required higher volume level to hear dialogue. To emphasize how important this setting is, if the only option was the Sony setting, my rating would change from 5 stars to 3 stars and I would not recommend it. There is also a DTS option, but I wasn’t able to test it.
Conclusion: This is a a perfect small room soundbar for watching TV and movies. It is loud and has enough bass to enjoy movies without a subwoofer. The Dolby sound field setting provides clear dialogue and good surround/Atmos decoding without the need for surround speakers. Highly recommended if your use will be similar to mine.

What great sound! This Sony sound bar is quite impressive when paired with my Sony tv. The set up was a snap as I used hdmi 3 on my tv, the arc connection. Next I paired it using -blue tooth- with my phone for music. I listen to Amazon music and use an I phone. I mention the I phone as the Sony OS is android (google tv) and some might think Apple users could have issues, not so in my case. Furthermore, I do not use any of the google settings on the Sony platform and instead run my tv through a Roku 4k stick, and great wifi, which is how the sound-bar operates as well. If you have a Sony tv, the integration will be automatic and work well. I did have some disappointment in the remote that came with the sound bar. Not much customization possible and even digging deep into the audio settings and sound field options on the tv there still was no way to increase or decrease treble, very minimal bass control, and no equalizer at all. Having said all of that, I am still loving my purchase and very, very pleased with the sound from both the hdmi connection and the bluetooth on my new sound bar. The remote is very basic, but works. I ended up putting an app on my phone as the little light on the front of the bar was on bright all the time. I knew there had to be a setting- it is called dimmer, and for some reason the remote that comes with the sound bar is missing that setting! The app I put on my phone is available using a QR code on the quick set up paper, it is called “Home Entertainment” and has the dimmer setting buried within the settings options. I also found other remotes from Sony that had the dimmer button included and have ordered a cpl to try. I am not wanting to grab my phone and open an app each time I watch tv- and the light will come back on (I turned it completely off) if you power off your equipment – I said power off, not turn off. Turning off the tv and bar leaves them in a ready state and they pop right back on… Powering off is what I do each night at the surge protector, or if I am to be away for the day.
Overall this is a finely tuned piece of sound equipment that can more than stand alone as a tv bar, or bluetooth music streamer. The sound will surprise most, with NO satellite speakers of any kind needed. It is possible to add on, but for me this sound bar is very impressive and provides much better sound than the tv alone while giving me an option to bluetooth any number of music options from phone, tablet, or Alexa device. The bass is good, the depth of sound is very good and I plan to use it daily. You will fall in love with the sound as I have, and this price for “Sony sound” is an excellent bargain in my opinion… PS, if you ever carried a Walkman, you know exactly what I mean! Update: I did purchase a compatible remote w/ the “dimmer “ control, worked immediately- the light now stays off, have not had to change the setting since… purchased right here for a very low price, I actually ordered two different models to try and they both worked! Love my Sony sound!

Material quality and sound clarity both good

Without the subwoofer, it try’s to prioritize the bass through the mids on the sound bar. I don’t think it’s designed for that. It gives it a muffled effect. I purchase the subwoofer after the fact and it clears and crips the sound quality and pushed the bass through the woofer and all the speakers are working in perfect harmony. Has fine tuning for bass once you add the woofer too. Without subwoofer it just offers min mid max. Use the app to play with advanced settings. Sound bar has great sound quality and paired well with a Sony bravia tv via hdmi arc port. Enjoy the voice mode for watching tv.

The first speaker I received worked for a few months, and then got frozen in a state of power on, no sound, and unresponsive to commands . Sony had me ship it in for repairs.
That speaker couldn’t be fixed, so Sony sent a replacement. After a few hours of use, the replacement got locked in a state of power on, no sound, and unresponsive to commands. Sony had me ship it in for repairs.
The second speaker got fixed and sent back to me. Now it responds but I can’t get sound out of it on any interface.
I just want a speaker that works. I didn’t sign up for all this wasted time, talking with tech support, shipping the speaker back and forth, unpacking, setting it up at home, breaking it back down, and repacking. It’s been an incredible waste of time, and a huge source of frustration.
If I could get my money back, I’d go with anything other than the HT-A3000. I definitely do not recommend it.

Sound quality is good but sometimes has trouble syncing with the tv (sony x90k). Good bass and easy to install

Had purchased a new Sony Bravia 50″ 2024 model. My old LG soundbar would not interface consistently. It had a wireless subwoofer that I had turned down to zero (no sound). So, I was on a search for a new soundbar. I wanted just the soundbar with no separate subwoofer. I don’t need a blasting bass that you can feel. I just wanted clear, crisp, high quality sound for TV, steaming movies, and music. I was also looking for the smallest soundbar possible, particularly in depth. My old LG was very thin but in my research I found in current times, thin soundbars don’t exist anymore. Tried several soundbars. Some were the exact same price and some were more while others were less. My trials included Sonos, Yamaha, Bose also the Bose 600, Vizio, JBL, Samsung and others. Some of these had apps that were very problematic and some of the apps wouldn’t even work on my brand new top of the line Samsung cell phone. For an elderly, I am pretty tech savvy with these types of electronics so I knew what I was doing with every set-up I tried. 12 soundbars later I decided to try the Sony HT-S2000, in spite of some of the negative reviews that I was concerned about. I wish the depth of it was smaller and it didn’t weigh as much as it does. Other than that it is perfect in every way. Clear, crisp, fantastic sound with plenty of bass, across all platforms, and a very easy set up. This is an excelent soundbar that produces very high quality sound. Very happy with this purchase!
