Let me start off by saying that this is hands down the best Dragon Quest game I have played in a long time. You can easily put over 100+ hours into this game if you want to do everything it has to offer. The definitive version adds a few more character development points for your party as well as adding in a side quest that takes you through all of the past Dragon Quest games. It’s a great nostalgic factor for those that have played all or almost every title. Also, this game doesn’t hold your hand either. The beginning of the game is your tutorial and after that, the world is yours to figure out.

I have not enjoyed playing a RPG quite this much in a long time. The graphics are amazing, the characters are great. There are twists and turns plot wise. I have logged over 100 hours and still have not finished, but I have never gotten bored playing it.

Excellent jrpg. Very old school, grundy jrpg with lots of loot, weapons and armor, awesome characters and fun battle system. The Xbox desperately lacks these kinds of games, and we are lucky when Square Enix or other japanese developers give us a chance to play them on our xbox consoles.

I’m loving the game, and hope this won’t be the only DQ entry that comes to Xbox. I hope one day they will decide to port DQ heroes 1,2 and DQ builders to xbox. I’d buy them in a flash.

What do you call a shooting game with very little ammo? I call it frustrating and dull.

Now what do you call an RPG where all your best attacks are magic greedy, but the game gives you almost no magic replenishment? I call that Dragon Quest XI.

What the heck, man! How are you supposed to improve your stats when you’re constantly running out of the ability to use your best and strongest attacks? You only get about five or six swings before you’re forced to fast travel all the way back to a campsite in the previous region where you can replenish your magic by resting. It takes forever to get from one location to another, because you’re constantly bleeding magic, and none of the vendors in the game sell magic replenishment. None.

The game forces you to grind for days at a time just so you can finally improve your non-magical stats enough that you can finally make it to the next campsite and gamesave marker. Even then though, once the enemies start getting stronger it becomes almost impossible to not use up all your magic in one or two fights.

The story was interesting, and so that’s why it gets two stars, but dang, if you don’t like the idea of grinding away for hours and hours, then I recommend you stay away from this one

The animation in this game is truly beautiful! I loved every second I looked at it as a magnificent story untold. The gameplay is classic and turn-based, which I absolutely adore! Truly have no criticisms. Best game I’ve played in a while!

All you need to know is that it has a great story, full of character development for the main cast, not to mention a soundtrack that is memorable and the combat system is a lot of fun! I honestly recommend this edition of Dragon Quest XI!

For those of us who grew up in the 80s and 90s this brings me right back. My first rgp was final fantasy 1 on nes when it came out. I play this only in 2d. Enjoyable beyond belief. With a little new day flare with builder and old school grinding, which too many young folk just can’t come to grips with, this game is a fantastic time waster. As they say time you love wasting isn’t wasted time. Even my 8 y/o loves this game. He started on 3d and now he runs 2d as well. Great story music and yes graphics
