First thing to remember is that this is an inexpensive electric violin so you cannot expect it to be great from the get go. I replaced the strings with some really good ones and put in a new tailpiece (ebony schmidt tailpiece) and those two changes make a HUGE difference in the sound of this instrument.

Things to keep in mind: It comes with the bridge not set up, but i found that not too daunting to set up (just make sure to put it in the right place, i put it at at 32.8 cm distance, leaving a bit of the pickup hole uncovered to give an indication).

I added a fairly inexpensive amp (Katana Boss Mini, highly recommend this one).

I am no expert and managed to figure this all out with some research (it s also a nice way to get to know your instrument).

Do not be daunted by the negative reviews, this is a great beginner instrument

Absolutely beautiful violin! It’s very nice to hold and the sound is unbelievable. It’s honestly more of an acoustic-electric than an electric because due to being made out of wood instead of plastic or metal it still makes a decent amount of sound. It sounds like an acoustic with a really nice mute on when you aren’t using an amp.

I had some issues due to my own body that I’ll have to modify the violin for so I’m only mentioning these to help others judge if they want it. I don’t have a particularly long neck so I have to use a center chinrest and the one it came with is fairly tall. Also my shoulder rest has to really be squished on to ensure it doesn’t fall off because the paint makes it a bit hard for the feet of my shoulder rest to grip the violin.

This violin is also fairly heavy.

Now for the accessories: the case and headphones are honestly terrible 😂 no surprise there. The bow is kind of poorly made but I swear the hair came straight from a unicorn. It produces such a wonderful sound (tested it on my acoustic)! I use pirastro gold rosin and usually use the carbon fiber fiddlerman bow. This bow is even lighter than my carbon fiber one. I’m not entirely sure what it’s actually made of but I wouldn’t call it sturdy – but the sound it makes is really worth it.

    Would not stayed tuned.
Bow is terrible and the case is flimsy.
