Listing is for the 66-158, NO A, the 158A set is different. Screwdrivers are bigger and it not what I expected, but will take them because they fit my case and will work, although not what I wanted.

Product differs from picture a bit. The handles are a lighter yellow (slightly green) and only three of the six sides are black. The tips are also a bit different. The standard (slotted) tips are not as long, and are more blunt – possibly in order to strengthen the driver. The Phillips tips look more like traditional tips instead of Stanley’s unusual design. Note that these are made in Taiwan.
The tips and shanks appear to be high quality metal. The shanks have a textured surface, but the machined area at the tips is well done. The metal at the tip is dense and smooth, unlike the grainy look of cheaper drivers. The standard drivers also feature a hex bolster, so you can use a wrench to get more torque. The Phillips drivers do not have this. The Phillips #3 could benefit from that. The handles are cellulose acetate, which is durable, relatively inert, and clean up easily. The handles are long, especially on the larger sized drivers, which is nice.
The handles are deeply fluted, as described. Normally, handles like this take up less space in toolboxes, and are less likely to roll compared to more ergonomic designs. I do think the fluting is too aggressive, as the edges can dig into your hands. I’ve used older versions of these drivers, and while they also had deep fluting, they had wider raised areas, which didn’t dig into your hand as bad. These can be quite uncomfortable with bare hands, especially if they get in between finger joints. That’s a problem if you need to really grip to remove a stubborn fastener.
That said, these are still a good option for mechanical work, as you will often be wearing gloves. The aggressive fluting can help you keep a strong grip while wearing a good pair of mechanics’ gloves, so this could be a feature more than a flaw. I also wish this set came with a 3/16″ cabinet tip driver, since that’s a pretty common size.
Looks like this line of screwdrivers is out of production, possibly due to Stanley-Black&Decker recently purchasing the Craftsman brand from Sears. I’d say these are tougher than the classic (clear acetate with blue/red paint) Craftsman screwdrivers – especially the Chinese made variants, though the older Craftsman drivers have more comfortable grips. Another potential issue with these is warranty replacements – if one does break, you will likely not get an exact replacement, though under normal use, these should last for many years.
Update: It appears these are back in production.

Great set of screwdrivers

I’m a handyman and have used pieces in this set professionally for the past 10 years. Full disclosure, a Klein #2 is my primary Philips, but the rest are Stanley 100 Plus. In 10 yrs, I’ve replaced the 3/8 flathead once which happened this year, and only because it was primary used for scraping vs. Fasteners.
When it came time to buy a screwdriver set for personal use, I went with this set. These tools are comfortable, very well made and just won’t fail you, regardless of your use. Buy with confidence!
