Although I can get this to work with some effort, and it will produce wood shavings in the few times I manage to get just the right pressure and just the right setting of the blade – the truth is – it needs to be professionally sharpened first. If you need a small trimming plane – invest in a high quality one to save yourself time. It’s worth the investment. This will do as a handy shaver for “rough” projects, but I wouldn’t use it on any fine furniture, or where you need to shave off thin layers (such as with door hanging, etc).

Ótimo produto e ótimo vendedor

I flattened the bottom to get the coating off and apply paste wax. The blade was easy to sharpen and adjust. It’s way nicer to carry one of these for small jobs than a whole block plane.

Such a helpful tool to use in the workshop super light and easily fits in an apron pocket.

Had one before worked great. This one – nothing

Once it’s sharp it works fine. The blade doesn’t fit snug so it can take a few attempts to set it, but for the price it’s definitely does the job. I wouldn’t recommend buying to someone who doesn’t have the tools to sharpen the blade though.
Edit:
Had this little thing for awhile longer now. Again, you need to be able to sharpen it. But it takes an edge well, at least for me. I’ve used it way more than I anticipated. If I remember correctly I got it for under ten dollars or around ten dollars. Definitely worth it. If you don’t know how to sharpen blades it would be a good tool to try with.

I’m no woodworker or carpenter, but this thing was so simple and satisfying to use. I had a wooden desk made for my daughter and the edges were so sharp, I lost sleep thinking of all the ways she could trip and fall into the desk and get severely injured. I came across this tool and after reading several other reviews, decided to buy and try it. It was easy to use and took the sharp edges right off with a small amount of pressure. Now I’m not worried about any injuries from the desk edges. This can be used for so many things, glad to have it in my arsenal.

Bought this to plane off just a smidge from an interior door.
Out of the package, I was a bit taken aback by how tiny it is, but once I got used to it, it’s actually the perfect size for what I needed it for.
– I’d only used block surform planes in the past, so it took me a few strokes to learn that this plane works best using long strokes rather than short motions
– I imagine this would be a bit uncomfortable to use for larger projects, as no matter how tightly I set the screw (that holds the blade in place), after a few strokes, the pressure made the blade move back up into the plane. It was easy to just loosen the screw, push the blade back into place, and tighten the screw again, but over the course of a larger project, I imagine it would get annoying to keep doing this again and again.
– The screw has a round head on it that doesn’t stick very far up above the plane itself. The head is textured, which allows for some decent grip, but perhaps a larger head or wing-nut shaped head would make it easier to tighten/loosen. I am a woman and it wasn’t the easiest to grip with my hand size. I asked my husband to try it, and he had a pretty difficult time with his larger hand size.
For my small project, it worked great.

Straight out of the box, the blade/iron was flat on the back (that’s a good thing!) — the edge was sharp and after running along my leather strop 10 times, it was perfect. 10/10 rating from me!
I have a Dewalt planer for full size pieces, a large hand plane and now this mini one for edges to make flush with one another. Don’t think about it. Buy it. 100% worth it.
Monica –
Great little product for when installing flooring.
Sean Hewes –
Great tool. I’ve been using it for a year or two and its still sharp and cuts well.
Diego –
Really like this. Be aware that is very small. It cut through white ash very well.
