It just works, like I expect from most StarTech products. Easy to use, good signal, fits my audio setup well, and easy to cable manage.
Good quality as always, I hope this company never changes.

This is a simple cable, none of the fancy hi end stuff. But seems to be enough for connecting home theater setups.
Tord –
Bends to 4 inch diameter reasonably well. Is a bit “springy’ so awkward to lay out neatly. I used a bit of hot glue to stick to skirting board in places. Works fine over the 4 metre length.

This is the longest Toslink optical cable I’ve found readily available, and for that, it is amazingly, almost unbelievably economical. It has a very thick, heavy jacket, which should help to protect the optical fiber within. It also has hefty end connectors, and the gold-tone accents on them serve absolutely no useful purpose on an optical cable, but they look do nice and give it an extra air of quality.
I’ve had this cable for about two years. One end of it hangs off an extra input in back of my home theater receiver, and the other end lives under my couch, where it gets shoved around in the dust and occasionally trodden on, and it performs flawlessly without complaint. This allows me to just sit down with my MacBook Pro laptop anytime, pop in the cable, and instantly listen to anything in my music library (or internet radio etc.) in full digital quality. Isn’t technology grand!
This would also be ideal for hooking up the digital sound output of your HDTV back to your stereo or home theater, or any similar application where you need a longer than usual cable.
By the way, for use with the MacBook Pro or other laptop with a similar analog/digital dual-purpose port, you’ll want a mini optical adaptor such as this one from RiteAV, or perhaps this one if you prefer a right-angle connector.
Highly recommended. “Buy without hesitation.”

Perfect item. Very excited

Pro: Works as expected with my audio interfaces. 8 or 4 smux adat channels. Tight solid plug connections. Have had no issues. Affordable.
Con: It is incredibly thin and rather stiff and if put besides other audio cables on the floor it’s easy to trip over. Due to it’s material it makes small “cable loops”. Been close to rip it out of the interfaces. Gaffer it to the floor to avoid breaking it.

The description line says “2x Toslink (spdif) Male…..”, which usually means you will receive 2 of the item for sale. You won’t. I don’t know what the 2x refers to here, but you will get 1 cable, not 2. Other than that, it works fine. BTW, to all the morons who say their optical cable does not fit right, take the plastic caps off the end of the cable.

JUST WHAT I NEEDED AND THE PRICE WAS REALLY REASONABLE AND IT WORKS JUST FINE ON MY HEADPHONES WHICH HAD BEEN DROPPED AND THE WIRE BROKE..

Great, durable, high-quality cable. Sounds fantastic, cable is sturdy and flexible.
But, at first it would not connect to my devices. The cable just fell out. A quick search on the googles, and all kinds of people were having the same issue. Looking very closely, I could now see that there are tiny, soft plastic dust covers protecting the end of the connector.
These need to be pulled off. Note the difference between the two pictures below. The one on the left has the round, clear soft plastic in place, and the one on the right does not. The cover is tiny, at the very tip of the connector, and difficult to see. After removing these dust covers, the cables snapped right in securely.

I recently bought a Dell computer which was advertised as having a S/PDIF digital sound output. I wanted a digital audio out from my computer for advanced sound applications I had planned with the system. When I received the product there was no digital cable output, and I was furious. I read the manual for the computer and it said a mini stereo type plug was a digital out “with proper adapter”.
I called Dell support since I had just received the computer and could not understand how to take the signal from a mini plug to a digital optical type cable. They, as usual were not able to help me either with an explanation or with availability of an “adapter” to take the signal from mini digital to “Toslink”. After chatting online with them for about 15 minutes, I became frustrated and told the so-called “Technical” person to forget it, I would figure it out myself.
Immediately I went to Amazon, and found this product quickly which fitted my needs perfectly. Ordered it with my Amazon Prime subscription, and it arrived quickly, packaged perfectly, and of what appears to be high-quality.
The adapter cable works perfectly for my application, and I would not hesitate to buy another product from the manufacturer/vendor StarTech.com. Of course I would always buy directly through Amazon because of their money back guarantee and their offering of absolutely incredible prices on audio and video cabling, adapters, and accessories.
