As always with a Natasha Preston YA Thriller, this book does no disappoint in grabbing you straight into the story and holding on tight until youve read every single word!
So Paisley is one of 6 influencers who has been invited to the new up and coming theme park which is based on a secluded island… what could go wrong? 😉
When they arrive and all start to mingle together, friendships quickly start to form and alliances are made.
Then the drama, twists and edge of your seat moments start to begin!
Liked all these characters, the storyline and the cliffhanger at the end which we have begun to expect with these books!

The pace of this book was FAST!
Barely any time to stop and wonder WHO the Psycho was.
I am usually fairly good at figuring out the twist, but I did NOT see it coming in this one.
I would love to visit an island like this one (minus the unaliving) the description and world building behind the island was amazing and such a cool space for something like this. I loved the nod to modern day “influencers” and the fact that no matter what we share online, we are indeed all human at our core.
loved the book, a nice quick read and a bit different from my normal genre/trope.

I rarely write negative reviews for books, but this one was very frustrating.
The story itself is really well written and I couldn’t put it down. The ending is a very frustrating cliff hanger with no sequel so I guess I will never know what happened, hence the 2 stars. I like my books to have a beginning, a middle, and a ending. This has no ending, it just cuts off suddenly.
SPOILERS ALERT BELOW:
The characters behavior wasn’t believable towards the end of the book. I would imagine that if a killer is on the loose and you are in multiple buildings including a restaurant, that you would at the very least arm yourself with a kitchen knife. Also, if you believe help will arrive in a few days and there is a massive storm approaching, why wouldn’t you lock yourself in your room until help arrived, or at least until the storm was over. The bedrooms all had attached bathrooms and there was no shortage of food. I’m disappointed I paid $9 for this book.

This book was a page turner. I couldn’t put it down. The story flowed with twists and turns. I wasnt sure who I should have suspected. Twist ending as well. The book was very well written. Definitely going to purchase more from this author.

That ending was AWFUL. It wasn’t even like a good cliff hanger that had you coming up with your own endings. It felt incomplete. Like the author just forgot what she wanted to say. The rest was great. I loved most of the characters, the setting was so creepy and unique, and I was fully invested in the story even though I guessed the killer early on. But that ending just put a bad taste in my mouth. It’s disappointing because Preston is one of my instant buy authors and she’s known for these abrupt endings but this one just hurt. Hoping her next book is better.

I enjoyed this novel a lot. I think this may be the first book by Preston that I’ve actually read and I was very happy with it. It’s a classic mystery in a similar style to And Then There Were None, but it added the fun twist of a theme park setting. A gothic theme park at that. This book was jam packed with references to media and definitely was YA. The killings weren’t overly graphic and the over all vibe of the characters involved was very trendy. The concept itself was amazing. I’ve always liked the whole creepy theme park angle in books and movies.
In comparison to other novels it obviously has the natural baseline of every single mystery. But if you want to get into themes I think it could be compared to Hide by Kiersten White. The main difference between this and Hide is that this is a serial killer and in Hide the killer is a creature. But both involve younger victims and an amusement park setting

Great book. My daughter loved it

This book is a thrilling read! The premise is chilling with a small group stranded on a creepy island during a storm with a serial killer. The pace of the book is fast, and the suspense kept me reading. It was fun to try to guess who the killer is. I recommend this book if you enjoy fast-paced thrillers!
Shelby Hysong –
What a good book. I read it in 3 days (I have a newborn and a toddler) but did not want to put it down! I hated the way it ended though, there should’ve been some short after story for a full closure, especially since there wouldn’t be much sense to write a full second one to this.
Anni_mo –
At first I DID enjoy the book, setting and its characters. But, as many people already stated, they do walk from one end to another without much sense. But the worst part was the ending to be honest. I don’t want to Spoiler it, but I’ve never read a worse one. Thank god I only bought the kindle version, otherwise I would have thrown it around In my living room.
Two stars because I liked the setting on an island/amazement park and the main protagonist.

Great story line with a lot of twists. Kept me interested to keep reading!
