Hi. –
Many years ago, I got off of the non-stick whatever-coated train and went back to stainless steel pots and pans (with a cast iron or two). To me, they’re so much less fussy and easier to cook with. It’s nice to be able to use metal utensils while cooking and to not worry about special cleaning rules.
I’ve been using one of the pans from a Fagor pressure cooker pair as my go to every day pan when I’m not using cast iron. It’s got a nice heavy bottom and good high walls on the sides and a good clear lid. Pouring can be a pain and the chunky plastic handle does not allow it to go from stove to oven. Sure, I can use my cast iron for that sometimes, but not always (depends on the dish).
This stainless-steel pan solves that problem. It’s not quite as heavy as what I was used to, but that’s actually fine! It’s still plenty heavy and can handle the heat (up to 500F for the pan, 350 for the lid)! It’s got the high walls that I like and am used to, and it heats up quickly and evenly. Being able to go from stove to oven is HUGE. I am a big fan of one pan dishes and of starting something on the stove and finishing it in the oven. Everything about it looks and feels like a higher end piece of cookware.
The lid fits properly, vents well, and doesn’t leave a huge mess. Really glad it’s clear – so many pans do not come with lids or the lids are not transparent.
I think it might be time to put the ol’ Fagor away unless it’s time to pressure cook!

So i’m new to stainless steel cookware and have only ever used non-stick. I recently watched a few videos to see what to even look for in stainless steel and whether things really do stick like people say they do.
First, based on my research, these check all of the boxes in terms of what to look for in stainless steel cookware! They say that it’s better to have riveted handles rather than welded which these are. The say to look for a comfortable rounded handle but one that has a divot or slightly oval shape to prevent the pan from spinning in your hand which this has. They say that it’s better to have unibody cookware rather than the stainless steel ones that have a seperate ring of steel at the bottom.
These are also all the perfect shape. My last set had some that were too wide and narrow while others were too tall and deep. The amount of pans is also perfect for anyone cooking a 3-course meal or for a family.
Stainless steel does take some time to get used to cooking in. You need to use more oil than normal and basically always have some kind of oil/butter in the pan to keep it from sticking. As i’m using them more, i’m getting better at food not sticking. These were certainly better at being non-stick than some others i’ve used though so that’s a good sign too.
Overall an awesome set of cookware and a good deal for the quality and amount that you get with it.
Honest reviewer –
I have a lot of various pans I use in cooking (you can never have enough!).
This T-fal Pro Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Saute Pan is part of a new line of cookware from T-fal, so I was pretty excited to see how well it is made, as previous T-fal pans I’ve used have been pretty good.
This pan has some weight to it and does not feel like a cheap thin-metal pan. It balances nicely and heating is pretty even across the pan surface.
I like that the handle is riveted to the pan, no screws to loosen up or trap anything. Having a steam vent hole in the glass lid is always nice have.
As it is designed to accommodate virtually all range types (gas, electric, inductive), it is quite versatile.
As another review had mentioned, cooking with stainless (not non-stick) surface pans is different and you need to pay a little more attention. Simply put, you need to preheat the pan and you will need to use an oil when doing any frying as this is not a non-stick. The tip of dropping a drop of water to see if it dances on the surface is wise to use so you know the pan is ready to use.
There are times that I like to use non-stick pans (cooking eggs especially), but there are also many times that I like to use stainless surface for searing meat, sautéing various items and even for sauces.
Also, I don’t have to worry about scratching the surface so can use all-metal whisks and cooking utensils.
If you enjoy cooking, this is a nice addition to have.

I have been a huge fan of T-fal pans for more than a decade and have up until this point used their non stick pots and pans of pretty much all sizes. They have always been my go to pans. As we move away from non stick I was worried about the kinds of pans and having to deal with how to clean them, and being really difficult to clean. The first thing I noticed is that that doesnt feel like the case with these but I do need to cook a bit differently and that total non stick has made me a bit complacent and lazy in my cooking. The two main things I do differently is I now make sure I have some kind of oil or fat and I start adding food to cook when the pan is much warmer. After a couple adjustments, cleaning for the most part is not much different then the old non stick pans though you have to clean it right away.
As for the pan itself it is atleast as good as the non stick t-fal it replaced though it is worth noting esp at higher temps the heat transfer seems better, which is a nice boost ontop of it being non-carcinogenic. This is now my daily pan and I really am enjoying cooking with it and there really isnt a difference in the taste!
