nice sound. beautiful design . but if the neck is thinner and the string is a little lower, it will be softer. Faster finger movement

Got this guitar and I absolutely loved it. Great-looking, and sound is amazing. Unfortunately it wasn’t until a couple of weeks later that I actually plugged it into an amp and then realized the pre-amp was defective (yes, I did put the battery in correctly). I must’ve spent a good 3 hours messing with it. I could the get built-in tuner to work, but no sound through the speaker amp, which worked just fine with other guitars I have. Amazon customer service, as always, super helpful and allowed me to send the guitar back. I’m not saying Takamine is a bad brand here, btw, this must’ve been a weird scenario where perhaps the preamp got damaged during shipping.

The guitar had a lot of cracks in its finish.

Iโve been playing for 56 years. This is a really great guitar to play in my retirement,

In 1965, in college, I bought a jumbo Gibson in Manny’s in NYNY. Maybe 7 years ago, I bought my first Takamine at a music store for the electric pickup. It cost about twice the cost of this new Takamine. The new one is perhaps better than the old one! (need to put new strings on old for proper comparison.) I have previously been afraid to travel with either of my other two guitars because of the risk. When I found I could get another for less than half the first, I decided to buy it to travel. I am thrilled with the sound and construction. It may be better than the old one, its back is bowed out creating a larger volume. Only new strings on the old one will tell. But I am thrilled so far.
Added comment: the back is slightly curved out creating a slightly larger box volume for the same length/width dimensions. Potentially larger bass sound.

This product may be good for beginners. Nice low action easy to play. Sound how ever is terrible without amp. Not a robust clear sound from the guitar itself. I Love Takamine products and own 2 of their guitars. I guess Like most things your dollar does not stretch as far as it use to. Has light weight plastic tuning keys. Body is incredibly light weight and cheap feeling. it did arrive with some minor scratches. Returning this product.

Setup was perfect. Action is low. Sound is beautiful. Guitar was slightly dinged/scratched during shipping and Amazon gave me a 15% discount. Worth every penny.
