My first TAMA pedal. So smooth and powerful. Very very very satisfied with it! Weights around 2kg (4.5 pounds). The power/rolling glide feature is awesome (in case you want to investigate further, look up for some vids on YouTube, it’s very well explained).

I bought this Iron Cobra 600 pedal because it was part of my final gear accumulation so that I can have a full drum kit set up as a practice kit, and a full kit in the cases for gigging. My regular kick pedal is an older Iron Cobra 900 pedal that I acquired roughly 10 years ago – a pre-Cobra Coil model.

Basically, in any way that matters, this pedal is virtually the same as my IC 900. There were four main differences:

1.) Different beater – a non-issue because I had another IC 900 beater that I installed right away, and likely wasn’t necessary at all anyway.
2.) Different mechanism of attaching the heel and footplate
3.) The IC 600 does not have a toe stop on the footboard (I don’t believe the current IC 900 has this toe stop either.)
    4.) Doesn’t come with a case – a non-issue for me

Otherwise, functionally this pedal is virtually the same, and I was able to get it to feel identical to my IC 900 Rolling Glide. (I took a bunch of pics side by side that I’ll upload later to update this review that show the similarities between the two pedals.)

To further illustrate the value of this, at the time of this writing the current IC 600 single pedal is $90 less expensive than the IC 900. Now consider that if you REALLY felt you needed the Cobra Coil, the IC 600 uses the same base plate, and the Cobra Coil is an easily-obtainable $24 part.

To touch on the other differences, I went ahead and got the toe stop because I actually push against that when I play. Some guys like it, some don’t – I do, so I added that to my IC 600.

If there was any complaint, it would be that there is a tiny tiny amount of slop in the hinge between the heel plate and foot plate. The IC 600 uses bronze bushings, and those could probably be replaced with somewhat thicker ones that would eliminate that slop, but it’s not even necessary because it’s not noticeable while playing.

Again, for me, in any way that mattered, this pedal is functionally the same as my IC 900, but priced like a mid-level pedal. Also, don’t forget that if you really think you’ve got to have that Cobra Coil, you can have that too – you’ll have to obtain it separately, but the slot in the base plate for installation is there.

I can’t speak about the differences in the linkage on the double pedal models because I’m a single pedal player, but this pedal has it where it counts. If you like the IC 900, you won’t be disappointed with it.

This is a good pedal for the price. Solid build and easy adjustments. My only complaint is the footboard hinge. It has a bit more play in it that I would like. I can definitely feel it when I’m pushing heel/toe double strokes. Still, built to last and is a great upgrade from a beginner pedal or as a good backup pedal.

Arrived with the metal a little scuffed. I didnโ€™t mind because I intended on using this for gigging and it getting beat up. Been gigging with for three months. Great value for the money. Glad I got this one instead of the 900 because this works fine and was all I needed!
