Great, transparent, analog clean boost, has the usual noise, but its very discrete for the price. Acts as a buffer too, so be careful if you have unbuffered long cable runs because activating it will bring back the high end and will appear as a change of tone. Not quite sure if the pedal itself is causing a change of my tonal characteristics though, I need more time with it to see what it does to my chain. But the boosting job is pretty acomplished, 20db tops of boost is more than enough to let those solos shine… I use it jusy before 12 oclock and it works great in cleans, drive and distorted (of course it will cause more breakup but your playing will handle it). Great price for a rugged, all-analog, small and light, really really transparent and not-so-noisy booster, totally recommended…

Clean volume boost up to 20db on tap. I use it post effects (delay and reverb) for solo boost. It works just as well pre amp to tighten the Overdrive / Distortion pedal or distorted Amp channel. Love the compact design.

I just needed a simple boost pedal for leads. There’s a ton of options out there but this pedal does the job perfectly,. If you’re looking for a simple boost pedal for not much money you should absolutely get this pedal. I have it set after my Big Muff and Blues Driver, don’t put this before your overdrives or distortions because that will sound terrible. The spark doesn’t color the sound and it retains the crunch without distorting and it doesn’t add any highs or lows. If you’re in the market for a boost pedal, buy this.

Good little item that gives a great boost and mixes with my other pedals well. Well worth the price.

An absolutely perfect clean boost. This little guy will drive the front of your amp into some indescribable sweetness, or crank it up and get some huge overdrive. I found that the Spark Mini seems not to color my sound hardly at all. I’ve fed it into several distortion and overdrive pedals as well. It’ll put extra hair on any pedal’s chest. This truly is a great pedal, great build quality, great sound, and an incredible value. Oh, and the Prime Time switching is something only available on the Spark Mini, and it is a fantastic feature. The foot switch can either be a latching switch, or a momentary switch depending on how long you press it. It is a feature that every lead player should check out. I really don’t think you can go wrong with the Spark Mini.

It turns on, the sound goes through, etc – but it has lost its primary (and only) function, which is boosting the volume.
Do not buy this – it will disappoint you in a few weeks.

This is an excellent, quiet booster. It takes very little space on pedalboard real estate. A great feature is the momentary part of the switch. This is quite efficient. Click it on to say on until you are done, or hold it down while doing what you need it for, then take your foot off it. The gain taper is quite good and the quality is very good. Considering the low cost, which rivals many no name asian products ,this is a slam dunk. TC Electronics quality at Chinese pedal pricing! 20db of gain is ALOT! Drive your favorite OD pedal harder with it, or boost your favorite pedal. It is quite a transparent pedal, so it does it’s job very well.

I don’t play a lot of leads but when I do this is perfect for that little boost to be heard but not be obnoxiously loud

Perfecto para subir el volumen o para llevar los bulbos al límite. Mis oídos no han notado que coloree la señal pero es cuestión de apreciación. Muy satisfecho con el Spark Mini ocupa poco espacio en el pedalboard y cumple lo que promete.

Yes, everything you’ve read about this is true, well, except for the reviews that think this is the only pedal you’ll EVER need. You know those reviews. This is not one of them.
The Spark is great at what it does — a tone booster/preamp with only slight (and positive) coloration. You plug in the in cable on the left and the out cable on the right. You plug in 9v- power. The single knob controls volume. That’s all there is to it.
I’ve found that it’s great for a variety of music styles, from shoegazer to doom metal to ambient. At the moment, my pedal chain is Epiphone Gothic -> Spark -> Dark Moby Delay (Hungry Robots) -> Fathom (Walrus Audio) -> Tech 21 Power Engine Amp. I’ve had other pedals in the chain, and I’ve moved the Spark around. I’ve had the most success with having it early in the chain.
It’s not buffered, so I guess you’d need a buffering pedal somewhere down the line if your signal chain is long enough, but I never had to use one.
All in all, It’s a great tone boost/pre-amp that won’t break the bank. It’s solidly built, as another pedal site once said, “simple as a drummer”, and reliable. For $50, it’s money well-spent.

Bought this for a clean boost for my acoustic shows. I do a lot of looping of rhythm guitar parts, bass & mouth percussion (beat-boxing). I use a Micro Pig Octave pedal for bass parts. Once all the parts get going it is sometimes hard to hear the lead guitar/solo stuff over the other tracks. It would get buried in the mix at times. This clean boost allows me to set the volume so that the lead cuts over the top of the looped parts. I imagine it would work equally well for acoustic duo for the lead player to get a nice boost while taking solos. The pedal only needed to be turned up to about 10% of the level that is available and works great. So if you need way more level/volume, that is definitely available. The best part about it for me, is that I did NOT want any distortion or “break up” sound of the tone. This pedal gives me a perfect, crisp, clean tone. I realize most people but his for their electric rig, and I may buy another one for my electric pedalboard, but for people who gig on acoustic guitars and play solos, this pedal is awesome. I’ve used it at two shows now and am absolutely happy with it. for $49, pull the trigger!

I’m using the effects loop for my DSL40CR, with only this single pedal running through the loop. This gives me exactly what I wanted. With the big Marshall footswitch, now I have 3 volume settings for each of the four channels from clean through OD2 without affecting tone at all. Just what I wanted for those lead moments where you need to break through.
