Basically, a copy of the Boss BF-2 but true bypass.
I started to purchase TC Electronics because I was on a tight budget and the Smorgasbord pedal line was in my price range. But now that I have several of these pedals, I just cannot justify paying more for other brands that do not seem superior.

This is TC Electronic/Behringer’s take on the classic Boss BF-2, famously used by Robert Smith of The Cure (“A Forest” being the most notable example). While technically larger than the BF-2, the top jack inputs help reduce pedalboard real estate, and the soft-touch footswitch feels great. The knobs are nice and big, allowing you to adjust them with your feet, and they’re stiff enough that they won’t get accidentally moved.
Sounds and operates just like the BF-2; it can do subtler flanging like the Electric Mistress, and can also get the in-your-face jet sound that’s a bit beyond the EM’s capabilities. What’s more, this and other four-knob flangers can also serve as a chorus pedal — just dial the Feedback and Manual knobs down to minimum and adjust rate and depth to taste.
That said, if you prefer sweet, subtler flanging, an Electric Mistress/Mooer Elady is going to be your best bet; if you want a flanger that can do a bit of everything from subtle to crazy, this is your ticket. It doesn’t do an amazing job at any one sound, but it does everything very well.
I picked this up on sale from Amazon for $39.99 — a fantastic bargain. Realistically, it’s a good bargain up until the price point at which you could get a used BF-2.

So I have had several other TC pedals of this form with top mounted jacks. Don’t care for top mount. I can get over that. Couldn’t get over the weird activation. All the top mounted TC activate on release. All other pedals I’ve ever had activate on press. So TCs Zeus drive, Bloodmoon Phaser, and Choka Tremolo all had this weird release activation. I ended up selling them all. The Zeus had a nice sound but I didn’t care for the Thunderstorm. I thought the Bloodmoon was especially bad. I can’t say all TC are bad. I really like the Spark Boost(4 knob) and the Sub N Up.

The sound is amazing relative to what the cost is. It sounds pretty retro which is the sound I am looking for. I use it along with some of my more expensive pedals. I’m more into the shoegazy stuff and it works well.

I wanted a warm analog flanger and had read 50+ great reviews of this TC Thunderstorm, so thought I’d take a chance on it. I’m very glad I did. It’s a beautiful sounding flanger & good build quality. No volume loss & nice soft touch footswitch. It went straight on my board. Some folks say it’s quite large & I guess it is, but I actually really dig the look of it. We all love good value and this is incredible value at £40… Why pay more? An absolute gem!

Dalle foto non si capisce, ma le manopole sono veramente grandi e anche molto precise. Il pedale stesso é piú grande in dimensioni di un pedale Boss per esempio.
Detto questo, confermo, costruzione molto solida e peso notevole, data la componentistica analogica al suo interno.
Il suono é versatile e caldo ma non estremo né metallico, come altri pedali flanger (il che non é un difetto, anzi!).
Usato in parallelo o seriale con altri effetti ho trovato vari settaggi, di cui uno che mi manda il segnale in controfase e il suono risultante é molto piú presente, emerge (quindi in altre parole, facendo cosí, ho rimesso la sorgente nella fase giusta).
Il prezzo é vantaggioso e prevedo di acquistare altri pedali della stessa serie, anche due dello stesso tipo per segnali stereo, uso studio.
Il nome non si addice, in quanto come detto, é molto morbido e caldo, poco male per il nome. Pedale massiccio.
