The Tenda TEF1105P is an excellent choice for anyone needing a reliable and efficient PoE switch. With 5 ports and 4 PoE+ ports providing a total of 58W, this switch has significantly simplified my network setup. It’s perfect for powering devices like IP cameras, access points, and VoIP phones directly through the Ethernet cables, which reduces the need for additional power adapters and outlets.

The switch is unmanaged, which makes it incredibly easy to set up – simply plug it in and it’s ready to go. The build quality is solid, and it runs quietly, which is a plus if you’re placing it in a quiet area.

Its compact design allows it to fit neatly in any workspace, and the performance has been reliable with no noticeable network slowdowns. The PoE functionality works flawlessly, providing stable power to all connected devices.

This is a very good switch, to use around the house in different places, to extend my wired network to devices that are far away from my networking closet. They are easy to set up, since they’re not managed, and it seems well built. Speed is as described, so I am happy with that as well. Obviously, as to durability, only time will tell, since I’ve only had it for a few months. But so far, it seems like a very good small switch for the price.

I upgraded my internet after fielding complaints from my kids about slow speeds. I got the 500mbps plan and was still only getting 100 Mbps or less…swapped the switch out and now I’m getting 400-500 Mbps. This item was low in price but worked like a charm. Took 2 mins to swap it out and only tool I needed was a flashlight to see what I was doing.

Works great for POE devices. I hate all the power bricks that come with things these days. This gives me a much neater and cleaner installation for my Ubiquiti WiFi antennas and a few other devices around the house.

I was using a couple of smaller switches that were constantly in the way or pulling off the shelf because they were so light. I finally went on the hunt for a good gigabit switch with poe+ support due to the security cameras I have. For the value this Tenda switch seemed like the best deal and had overall good ratings and reviews. It was plug and play and I didnt have to mess with any settings or gui console since it is unmanaged. I didnt go with a higher value switch at this time, because next year I will be moving into a new home that I will have everything running on 10GbE and will have a much larger investment at that time.

I had been looking for a POE switch to replace my main home switch (8-port non-poe) for couple years without success. The reason is because I have a specific list of requirements (admittedly pretty niche):

    * Compact – I live in a townhouse with structured cabling that terminates in a fairly small wall box. It keeps everything nice and tidy, but also means there’s limited space for extra equipment. POE switches necessarily require larger power supplies which means models with external power bricks are ideal in my scenario. This is apparently rare in POE switches larger than 8 ports

*12-16 ports – Ideally I need a switch with exactly 14-ports. This would allow me to activate every Ethernet port in the house. The 10-15 port POE switch market is apparently very limited. The sweet spot seems to be 8 or 16 ports. They majority of 16 port switches listed on Amazon tend to be quite large. 8-ports is a little too few for me. *Goldilocks sigh*

*At least a 3rd tier brand. Most of the switches I’ve seen seem to be branded under a hodgepodge of no-name Chinese companies. These companies also seem to be mostly rebadging 2-3 actual designs and just selling them under various brands and different colored stickers. It might be okay…but then again this thing will be sitting inside an enclosed box in my wall for many years with potentially 100W of power flowing through it. I feel better if I can reduce the chances of my house burning down because of a stupid switch.

In the end I couldn’t find an exact match for my criteria, but this one was close enough (Tenda TEG1109P-8-102W). It’s been working flawlessly for about a month now powering my Access Point. I plan to have cameras and other POE devices eventually. Switching performance has been fine as well. I consider Tenda as a tier 3 brand in the US. It’s not well known here, but it is a real company based in Taiwan (won’t go into Taiwan vs China here) that has been in business for 20+ years and does a lot of business outside the US. I’ve seen their equipment used by some AV vendors for whatever that’s worth.
