Great Book!

This Barnes and Noble compilation of The Art of War classic is really wonderfully done. The front half offers just the interpreted original text, while the back repeats the original text with added commentary. I absolutely loved the commentary, as it was excerpts or quotes from other world leaders and military geniuses. The commentary added a lot of breadth to the already rich history of The Art of War.
This book is a lot smaller than I thought, though it has a lot of pages. It can fit in a small purse.

I think we often overlook classics like this, because if we do not see the Wisdom immediately, we dismiss it.
This is a fine version of The Art of War—The first version is the pure Lionel Giles interpretation, the second is the Giles insight with commentary by Ancient and Modern Generals, It also includes Lt. Cols. and Historians like Will Durant. The Great Strategist John Boyd used to read the Art of War over and over.
I also like the Griffith version with Introduction by Col Lydell Hart.
Read and Re-read this, taking notes.

This works in all aspects of life
Avid Reader –
It’s good, although not an easy read, well written and easily understood and grasped if you want to do that. Has a history I like but it repeats itself.

The Art Of War is a short but brilliant piece of Tao-inspired literature. While this book is about war, it is also about more than war. It’s more a book about logic and decision-making and sociology. Fascinating.
