Great story with well researched and thought out characters yet based on true events. Only criticism was with the last chapter of the opinion that what happened to the character could have been left to the readers imagination. Don’t really want every characters life in the future tied up with a bow

A good book. Shocking at first and then nothing quit makes sense until later. I almost gave up on this story but felt I had read too much of it to give up now. So glad I didn’t! It picked up speed as I continued to read and became more and more involved with it. An unusual but peaceful ending. I liked it and would recommend it to others.

I’m not sure I have strong enough words to describe this story, these people, their losses, the survivors, the pain, the grief they have endured, and struggled to live with the rest of their lives.
Perfect beautiful built characters, I see them in my mind, their hair, their scars, their hearts.
An incredible story of how much they have loved, and lost.
I finished and felt like applauding…well done!

This was not an eyewitness account for sure, but it was well detailed and researched.
The romance was a bit farfetched.

  7. Nadina Cole

Loved the various chapters with shifting first person narratives and perspectives + Daisy’s feature writings. Characterizations were 3-dimensional and beautifully rendered. I could have done without the final, lengthy chapter of magical thinking about death and dying.

Wonderful story of small town America with plenty of twists and turns. I really enjoy her writing style with vivid characters and almost poetic sentences in places.
