One of the best WWII books I have read. It is not a normal love story between two people, but about the love between a woman and two children not her own for whom she becomes responsible. It is a journey filled with danger, heartbreak, friendship and joy. Well written and very descriptive, it allows the reader to experience life in France during WWII.

There are stories that resound with the inherent humanity in everyone. The Parisian Dancer is set in the timeline leading up to the war, the war itself and the aftermath of the dangerous times around Helena, an aspiring actress working as a cabaret dancer in Paris.
Helena’s story from being fond of the boys to taking high risks to protect them in a Nazi-invaded Paris is one that brings us back to the vulnerability of stability and the courage that has to be shown during the time.
I cannot comment on the Good and Bad of the book because I was swept along the emotional wave of Helena’s tale. Helena, for the love of the men of the Oppenheimer Family, becomes a pillar of courage, sacrifice, and resilience as any setback that she faces is buried deep within her soul as she always puts Olivier and Laurent’s safety above everything.
This is a story that will instil in you a need for peaceful living for the world and a remembrance for all that was lost…

I fell in love with Marek and Annette (Jewish)whose lives were full of sorrow having left Poland to emigrate to France.Their neighbour is aParisian dancer and a most beautiful Italian lady. She Became inextricably linked/connected forever to Marek Annette and their two sons .She sacrificed so much to save the lives of these 2beautiful boys including being owned and controlled by An Evil German Captain .The story beautifully and tragically unfolds with miracles at times and others just deep deep hurt and unimaginable pain .Please read this phenomenon tale which could ring true to many underground resistance or helpers who hid Jewish people at great risk and sacrifice .

This one was tough. On one hand I felt the storyline was good, at times captivating. But then I would struggle with parts that seemed thrown together. Probably the most frustrating part was the editing. It lists the Translator’s name so perhaps it really did get lost in translation. There is even a part where roughly four paragraphs are italicized for no apparent reason. Missing words, empty spaces…just very odd. To the point where I actually looked up who the publisher was.
Love to Read –
The story was a powerful reminder of the struggle for survival during the holocaust. The novel based on a true-life experience was chosen by my book club.

The story is beautiful and tragic. I’m a grown guy and it brought me to tears. Books don’t normally do that to me. Now, for my criticism. The physical layout of the book is sometimes annoying. Whoever did the job of editing did a poor job. Many times the accepted conversational indents, etc., are not followed, so that 2 persons are conversing in the same paragraph. Once you get past the disjointed literary structures and the occasionally missed words, it is a great story. To the author, I would suggest you do a 2nd edition with attention to straightening out the physical layout of the book.

Well presented , straight forward on a period of time we should never forget. Could be anyone’s story, so many sacrificed to save other’s. Each chapter presents a reality of human spirit and determination.
If you enjoy fiction based on historical fact you will want to read this book.
Well read –
An amazing story of a very strong woman who endured the absolute worst from the Nazis during the Occupation of France, but still managed to be a “Mother” to 2 Jewish boys who lost their parents in the early days of Nazi occupied Paris.
A real tear jerker but beautiful characters.

I gave one less star for lack of editing. There were many typographical errors and misgivings words that was frustrating g. However the author tells the story with great detail giving the reader a clear view of circumstances without the unnecessary graphic detail. I thank you for that! What a story of selfless love and good character.

Leaves quite an impression. Author deals with subject matter well. Not for the faint of heart.
Beadwabbit –
This is a story about a single woman and the two Jewish children that she takes in to raise during the nazi occupation of Paris. The boy’s father is murdered and the mother is assumed dead too. The single woman is an exotic dancer and a nazi falls in love with her and holds her hostage.
The story after this is really sad and deserves a read. The last bit of the book will need a box of tissues. It does deserve a read.
Lydia –
Helena, the heroine of this tale is a lovely Italian who has come to Paris to fulfill her dream of becoming a great actress. She befriends a young couple from Poland who have fled from the antisemitism that was a threat to their lives. She falls in love with their little fellow, Olivier, who calls her Nana. Then the War is declared and the world that they know is full of danger, death and separation. It is not until the end of the Nazi occupation that her strength and character shines. Be prepared for tears!
