My niece and her daughters stopped by for a visit. While entertaining the 2yrs old with my iPad, I pulled up Disney books. She pointed to the Hunger Caterpillar and said “this one, plz”. So I retrieved a video for her to watch. The next day I ordered a few items from Amazon, when the package arrived (exactly 48 hours later) my Niece called me to say, her daughter screamed in excitement “Hunger Caterpillar”. Immediately she pleaded to her Dad to play it. Thanks Amazon for assisting me to make my little niece’s day a bit more exciting.

UPDATE after the first review of this 3 yrs ago – everything below holds true still!! Now it’s on Netflix which explains the cheaper DVD price!
I have a babysitting service in the Napa Valley, and have worn my first DVD out, so I’m buying another one. Ages 2 – 9 love it! Yes, even a 9 year old will pretend they don’t want to watch it with their little sister, but end up being mesmerized and comforted by all the sweet stories and great animation used. All of the stories have peaceful orchestral music in the background, and the readers tell the stories nicely. “Papa, please get the moon for me” is enthralling to a 3 or 4 year old, who sees “papa” getting the moon with his mile-high ladder for his daughter to dance and play with.
Since my jobs are typically on call, and I’ve just met these children, these DVD’s are invaluable at bedtime, and I find that most end up falling asleep to them.

Just a wonderful awesome story that my two and four year olds adore. No matter what they’re doing, when The Very Hungry Caterpillar “comes on” they stop to see it. And when the butterfly “pops” out of the cacoon- the two break out in cheers! I love watching them watching it

We love this dvd of short stories by eric carle brought to life! Wish they would remake it in HD the quality still looks like its being played on VHS. Other than that it’s great. My daughter LOVES it and i hand her the books to follow along. I can’t remember all the books that are on the dvd but The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Very Quiet Cricket, Papa Please Get The Moon For Me, and I See A Song are all great books and i love watching them on the screen!

My wife is a kindergarten teacher from Berlin Germany who now lives in USA. Eric Carle is a native German and is famous in Germany with Kindergarten types of teachers. He was also an accomplished marketing exec before turning to his real love – children stories. The quality of this DVD is similar to Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven. It’s surprising so few are aware of Eric Carle’s ability to relate to small children in the US. This is a real gem. Delightful, brilliant! Julian Nott composes the music which awsome. If you have small children and like fine classical music, give yourself a special treat and order this DVD!

I haven’t personally watched this because I purchased it for my nephew for his birthday. His mother said that he loved the one that was being shown on Netflix, but had been upset that they took it off. Luckily, I was able to find this one on dvd and it’s the exact same one he loves that was on Netflix. The animation is exactly like you see in the Hungry Caterpillar book and it’s produced by Disney, so it’s certain to be a favorite. I couldn’t find it on bluray, of course I was in a time crunch and didn’t look hard enough, but as far as I know it’s only available on dvd as of right now.

I found a video online of a man reading “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and let my four-year-old daughter watch it as part of a homeschooling activity that went with her lesson (we didn’t have the book). She loved the story so much and wanted to watch the video frequently. One day on Netflix I discovered “The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Stories” so I let her watch it. She loved every story in the video and it became something she asked to watch quite frequently. However, Netflix removed it from their “watch instantly” list very soon after. I didn’t want her to go without her beloved show, so I looked for the DVD on Amazon and found it and for a great price, too!
The video is a half an hour long and includes the following stories:
1. The Very Hungry Caterpillar
2. Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me
3. The Very Quiet Cricket
4. The Mixed-Up Chameleon
5. I See A Song
It also includes a bonus feature called “Game Time.” This feature allows your child to play an educational game called “Eating Through the Week” with the use of the remote. My daughter loves this game. I wish it had more games for her to play.
The illustrations in this video match the illustrations in the book. The narrator’s voice is pleasant as well. The animation is great (it’s by Disney) and everything is true to the books. This is a great DVD for children 5 and under who like Eric Carle and his stories.

What a great buy for something to give as an additional gift or something for your neighborus kids. 3 hours of video to keep any child busy sounds great to me. I bought a couple also for my grandchildren and two nephews along with our neighbours two daughters. VERY FAST SHIPPING!

Aunque ponga REINO UNIDO no funciona un dvds europeos. ¡Veo que ha cuadruplicado el precio! Se lo daremos a sus primos en USA.

Poor quality. When received, it was scratched… lots of skipping and errors. It’s really not that great of quality.

My son loves Caterpillar and other stories! Whenever he wants “me time,” he’ll ask to watch his caterpillar movie. It’s a timeless and classic set of stories. The narrators, the animation, and the music are perfectly in sync with a child’s imagination. Disney was spot on with Eric Carl’s artistry. It’s a guarantee hit with ANY child!
