Let’s see what you think when this hulking chunk of metal is affixed to your car. It’s massive and nearly impossible to move. You better install this on arrival because if you ever decide to take it off (trust me you will) it will be impossible to put back on again. So I feel a bit bad on this. I spent almost 1k all in on this rack for three years of service it is impossible to attach to extension due to the complexity. I also add the entire rack fell of in transit once due to bumpy roads. I could not imagine what might happen if the 4 bike setup came loose? Buyer beware. I’ll never buy Thule again…

Not sure why all the 1 stars say poorly designed and difficult to assemble. Start to finish I dont think it took my son and I even 15 minutes to assemble. Everything lined up perfectly and had 0 problems. Very solid.

Cool and nice fit for my mtb ang fatty bike

the rack is incredible, easy to see why it’s the top rated rack.
FYI…many of the screw heads stripped out during assembly, I hope I don’t ever have to take this apart.

I considered myself a very handy person, and I had issues installing the add on. The Hitchswitch lever that activates the pull up/down of the rack is not easy to disengage from the main part of the rack , and then not easy either to connect to the add on part.
Once the add on is installed, the rack is very heavy and not easy for one person to carry it .
However, the quality seems very good. We just drove from NJ to FL , and the rack stood strong.

While the add-on is just as well made as the rack itself, this was a huge disappointment. We were installing the add-on, and all we had left to do was re-attaching the handle, so we were able to lift the rack up and down. We had to find out that this was not possible as we were missing the built-in bolt that attaches the handle to the latch. This is extremely disappointing as we are leaving on a trip tomorrow morning at 5, and of course there is now no way that we can get this repaired before our trip. Thule QC should have noticed that missing part.

Missing a bag of large screws(see attached,The accessory lacks the screws of the same part of the main part).

I was hesitant to buy the add on due to reviews. Mine came in I had no fitting issues, no wd40 to spray, no miss alignment or anything. Very easy setup, have yourself a long 4mm hed wrench for the center handle bolt. If you back tire fell off dragging your bike; make sure you installed the stoppers at each end! The rack is awesome.
It’s big, it’s heavy, been using the rack for a long time. I have road, all mountain, plus bikes and fat bikes, just got the add on. For obvious reasons this is for a class 3 hitch. The add on will likely fit to your Thule rack (1 1/4 hitch) but will likely exceed tongue weight. It’s for a 2 inch/class 3 hitch/receiver.
Consider;
The rack roughly 52-54 ish
Add on 34lbs ish
Bike x4 30lbs (all mountain) 120lbs
Tongue weight maybe 230 now.
Edit: after extended use id caution using this, it’s so heavy I think it stresses the rack a lot. I haven’t had much issues, I’ve rebuilt the latch mech as it broke. Still an amazing add on, still recommend it. It’s very heavy and gets in the way. I’m keeping my rack as a 2 bike and using the roof rack for extra bikes now for the times I need 4

I have several fat tire electric bikes that just don’t work being transported by the frame. I researched these for literally years before buying one but now that I have one, I absolutely love it. It is so easy to get the bikes on and off and no problems with the fat tire electric bikes.
You can lower it to make it easier to access my liftgate but with the addon and a couple heavy electric bikes, it is way too heavy to do that.
You can lock them if you wont but I only do that if I need to stop somewhere and the bikes are on there. The mechanism for attaching to your hitch is awesome. Super simple attachment and locking as well.

The Thule T2 Pro XT was great, but the add-on makes it even better. Make no mistake, the assembled 4-bike carrier is a beast! It is heavy and probably will require some sort of dolly for most people – but it is easy to load, can be lowered to access the back door of our SUV, and it is stiff and uber stable! I wish Thule offered a lock cylinder trade in to allow common keying of the two add-on locks with the base unit – but otherwise, it is perfect.

Llego muy rápido pero incompleto

We have had several bike racks over the years and as our bikes have changed from entry level hardtails with narrow handlebars to fairly expensive full suspension Santa Cruz models we have come to find out that we need a quality bike rack that will keep the bikes secure and off each other while we plow across NC heading to the lift access downhill parks like Sugar and Beech Mountains. The other bike racks required addition rope and velcro to keep the bikes in place and even then they would tend to move around with one pedal scratching another’s frame or a brake lever scratching another’s handlebars. This model has ended all that drama. The bikes stay exactly where we put them with absolutely no touching each other, movement or rattling. We bought the extension too so 4 bikes ride in style and comfort. The 4 bike capacity is a bit heavy, but well worth it in my opinion.
