It’s okay, it does its job as a kettle and heats up water well.
It has a temperature sensor and displays it.
However when I set it to Coffee setting (205’)
It goes past 205 to boiling and I have to wait for it to come down in temperature. What is the point of setting the desired temperature if it goes right past it?
It defeats the entire purpose of the temperature sensor and settings. Same thing happens with the low temps for tea, it goes right past the desired temp. Doesn’t seem it have an auto off either, it tries to keep the water at the set temp until you unplug it. When I remove the kettle from the base display will say 200’ but when I put it back it will say 205’
It’s unreliable and inconsistent.

I got this specifically to hold water near boiling. We have a boiling water dispenser, but keep that at a lower temperature, and sometimes I need water hotter than that. Having seen a couple of these reviews, I’m not comfortable leaving this thing unattended, which really limits its usefulness. I’m not deducting any stars for other people’s experiences, just mentioning those as part of why this doesn’t see a lot of use – as in if I used it daily, who knows if it would be broken by now? I’ve only used it a couple of times, and that really limits my ability to tell potential buyers anything useful.
I can absolutely say that it leaks a little, and maybe that’s the ultimate source of some of the malfunctions. It’s not much, but given that the leak is right at the electrical contact, it makes me nervous about using this – and again, unable to leave it unattended because water and electricity are not friends in any universe.
There’s also no steam hatch, so the long, skinny spout is it as far as relieving pressure and dissipating the steam. That’s not necessarily a deal-breaker, but I do have to be VERY VERY careful where I point that thing – and certainly not to put body parts in its path.
I’m ultimately not sure where this is going to end up in terms of staying in my house or not. I don’t think I can justify keeping it, but I also don’t want to foist it on some unsuspecting family at the thrift store.

I love seeing the temperature as the kettle heats up. Water boils super fast and the settings on the base are great. You definitely don’t want boiling water for some types of teas and coffees and this lets you set those limits. Love this thing!

I bought this after a roommate got married and took his kettle with him and I had become too used to using a temperature controlled kettle for coffee. Turns out I like brewing coffee at 95 degrees C and the heat of the water you use when brewing coffee makes a pretty big difference in my opinion. The big downside to this kettle over the other electric kettle I’ve used is that the control dial for setting the temperature on this one are fiddly and annoying to operate, which is the reason I docked it one star. My other annoyance is that it shows temperatures in Fahrenheit. I like using Fahrenheit for the weather, but Celsius makes much more sense for a product that boils water. Did you know that water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit? Neither did I before buying this, but I did know that it boils at 100 degrees Celsius.
Other than those caveats, this is a much nicer kettle than the other one. The gooseneck on this one makes pouring the water much nicer, especially if you want to make a pour over. This kettle is even faster to heat up the water than the previous electric one, and it holds its temperature instead of automatically shutting off as soon as it reaches temperature. That’s really nice because now I can start the water, grind my beans, set up my aeropress and when I have finished, I know my water will still be heated up and at the perfect temperature. The kettle feels well built, looks nice and for the price I’m very happy with it overall.
