I have a Premier XL4 base unit and just purchased a video projector for watching sports in a larger room on a different floor. So I bought the mini Vox to stream upstairs. The unit took about 30 minutes to set up the first time. It is unobtrusive , about 1/3 the size of the old mini. There is a wall wart power connector, it comes with a sophisticated IR/BT remote and an hdmi cable.
I bought this unit from Amazon because I intended to use it via a wifi connection. I had read the online specs and literature, which all say that can’t be done or is not supported, so if that was truly the case I wanted to be able to return the mini. My setup worked fine. I had an old N A100 Tivo wireless to ethernet adapter which I reset and activated per standard procedure. I have very good wifi in my home ( unifi ubiquiti). With the adapter connected the mini connected to my network and I went through the setup without a hitch; i just selected the ethernet connection choice. I can’t comment on 4K signals, but I can watch anything i have stored in 1080 without an issue; this includes basketball , movies, youtube, netflix, the whole shebang.
A couple of glitches worth noting. It can take a day or more for the mini to sync to the Tivo network and then it may change or force you to change or downgrade the interface because of base unit limitations. In my case once I did that, my remote IR started interfering with my Optoma video projector. It took me a day to figure out how to set the remote to Radio (BT) only mode and that problem went away. Get to know the TiVo-C and TiVo-D commands, as well as the Global Reset. Lots of posts from 2017 about pairing problems can probably be ignored. This mode is the A95 series. Oddly , the mini apps wanted me to login and sync to TiVo again, despite my good status on the base DVR. Irritating but not a problem.
Oh, yes , picture and sound are excellent.

I don’t like to give perfect 5 stars for anything but I think the Tivo Mini Vox probably comes as close as anything. I did have some problems setting it up and getting it to work consistently with a Tivo Roamio OTA. A couple of calls to tech support which were answered surprisingly quickly solved my issues. And the tech people were actually very pleasant and easy to work with. Problem was that I initially used wifi on the setup of the Roamio OTA and it worked just fine connecting with the Mino Vox for a short period of time. Then the Roamio and the Mini would fail to connect to each other for sustained periods even though I have excellent wifi signal strength and isp speed. Hiring an electrician to run an ethernet cable to the Roamio solved the problem. If you are cutting the cord and are in an area where you have good OTA options then the Roamio OTA and Mini Vox are the way to go. I started off running with some cheap RCA rabbit ears which are excellent for the price but there were a couple of channels that weren’t getting a strong enough signal. Adding an Amazon Basics ultra thin indoor tv antenna brought in all the stations I wanted. The Roamio OTA combined with a Mini Vox is great and I love the program guide as well.

We wanted to cut the cord from DirecTv and did so by getting a TiVo Roamio upstairs. We also bought a lifelong subscription to TiVo service (so we can record Live TV and at $300 or so it’s paid for itself already) using only a HD antenna to get a signal. Been working great. We wanted to have TV downstairs too and found this MINI VOX to get started. The MINI VOX does not work on it’s own and can only be used in combination with the Roamio. Now I know enough about TV and cable set ups to be dangerous, and i learned there’s 2 ways to connect the MINI VOX to the Roamio. No big deal, really. So the two ways to connect the MINI VOX to the Roamio are MoCa (cable) or by your ethernet connection running through your home Wifi router. I don’t know what MoCa stands for exactly but I can tell you that i couldn’t just connect a cable line from one component to the other. So after drilling several holes and connecting everything with ethernet cable, it works great. Same remote, same interface for both units. My wife wanted to be able to continue recording live TV and that feature works great. We can record either upstairs or downstairs. Doesn’t matter. We also make use of YouTube and NetFlix on both units. Those work great. Haven’t used the Voice Recognition yet. Sorry! But no rating there. A couple things that I’m not thrilled about is the lack of a power button on the front of either unit. You gotta use the remote to turn either of them off. And we have yet to figure out the Amazon Prime sign-in issue. No matter how many times we enter the correct information to sign in, we just can’t access our account. I’ll have to google that one later. So far it’s been a year and we are really happy with our new TiVo Roamio and MINI VOX set up! Bye, DirecTv!
