Decent construction although the assembly that raises and lowers the scope can be a bit wonky, if you try to adjust the monitor, the mechanism slips and the scope slides down the boom. I like the lights, no shortage of lume here, almost blinding. I find I need to move the side lights away when working on shiny material. Takes pictures and records video which is excellent, video quality is pretty sharp. Playback is good as well, records video in segments so you can go back and watch one at a time or jump to where you want to go. There is no fast forward or rewind so this feature is nice to keep you from having to watch the entire video when looking for a particular part. All in all, great item for the cost. I mainly use it for watch repair but the family has found several uses for it as well which is probably going to make me get another, I don’t like to share!

I enjoy metal detecting. This microscope makes the experience a smig better.
I don’t know if the magnification is as great as it says, but it is very strong. When examining a new “find” I can easily discern details I could not clearly see with a loupe. I have zoomed in right to the level where a single sand grain was large and clear. I really value being able to take snapshots that I can post to discuss with other nerds. The lighting on this is strong and effective. you can adjust them and move them around to expose hidden relief or to wash an object in light.

I am very pleased with this microscope camera. It does what I want it to do!

Upon opening the box, the microscope did need charging. It took a couple hours (as the instruction manual does state). After a full charge, the microscope was very easy to use and lasted for a couple hours (and I used all of the lights included; the manual states this drains the battery faster). It was also able to be used while plugged in, so I did not have to stop my research as the battery recharged.
This microscope is a huge improvement to my previous one. The stand is very sturdy. It was easy and comfortable to adjust the height of the microscope, the zoom factor, and the light attachments to focus the light where I needed it. The detail is amazing. Due to the increase in detail as compared to my previous microscope, I was able to review and correct some of my past research.
I will definitely be suggesting this digital microscope to my peers.

Pretty good microscope – better than many I have tried in the past. The major difference is that the image is sharp and clear, rather than the wide-angle “Fisheye” image I have seen on other digital microscopes.
The instructions were poorly translated into English words that make little sense. There are not assembly or wiring directions, but it’s pretty hard to mess up. The side of the box shows how the microscope sits in the upright, which is screwed into the base. What they don’t show you is that a white silicone band was provided to make the microscope fit more snugly.
Because of the missing instructions, I went to YouTube to look for a video. I found several, but none was particularly helpful on the assembly and wiring. So, the first wire is obviously for the remote control and it’s a round plug that only has one place it can go. The other is a mini-USB connector, which is probably to use with a cellphone or to connect to a computer. The second cable was a standard USB-B to USB-mini, which allows you to charge the viewer with any USB charger (not included).
This kit did include a USB memory stick with a driver to use on Windows computers. It also has a 32 GB mini card for storage. Mine had no calibration overlay as I have seen on other videos, but it’s not needed.
The on-screen setup is intuitive enough. The remote duplicates the keys already under the viewer. “M” is the Mode button. The OK button chooses an option in the menu, the “M” (mode) button goes back a step. There is an up and down arrow for the menu and not very many options, anyway (resolution, ISO, date and time, etc.).
The main thing is it’s a stable platform and the microscope has it’s own array of leds. The two platform lights are on flexible extensions, but you have to use the USB cable to power the base stand lights. They have their own dimmer in the back of the stand.
Great little microscope. You can take pictures directly from the viewer or download them to your computer. The field of view is about 1 cm at max distance, less if you are closer to the lens. Notice that the stand can be lowered to get closer and the focus ring is around the microscope lens itself.
Pretty clever and a good value for what it is. Coins and hallmarks are particularly easy to make out.

I purchased this digital microscope for my university lectures where I am simultaneously teaching students in class and via Zoom. The USB function is a real plus. I was able to plug this in, and during a Zoom meeting, switch from my webcam to the microscope with no problem. This allowed students in class to watch what I was doing on the projection screen while students at home could watch on their computer screens, all with excellent resolution. The ability to take pictures or video with the microscope at the click of a button is a real added bonus.
The microscope is very impressive for the price. It is relatively small and easy to pack and carry in the original box. I can set it up or take it down in about 2 minutes. The additional side lighting helps to produce shadows or provide illumination to your very tiny subject matter. Yesterday, I was teaching about the “placoid scales” of sharks. These scales are more like teeth than fish scales. Although you can readily feel them on shark skin, you cannot see them with the naked eye. This microscope showed them in far better detail than I had hoped.
The 7″ screen is like a very large cell phone or a small tablet. This is plenty big enough for soldering circuits, grading coins, etc. If you want it big, you can always project it onto a 100″ screen (which is what I do in class). The digital functions of the microscope (lighting levels, exposure compensation, timer, camera functions, etc.) can be controlled with buttons on the screen or the wired remote.
The rechargeable 18650 rechargeable battery is fairly common. While you can plug your microscope into a USB block to charge, I actually have a dozen of these batteries and external charger for my SCUBA lights. The battery lasts for about 3 hours and (if the battery ever dies) you can pick up a few extras on Amazon for relatively little money.
Bottom line, although this may not be laboratory grade equipment, it does produce similar results and at a fraction of the cost. It does feel a bit like a toy, but it’s hard to argue with the results. I’m far more impressed with this unit than I hoped. Time will tell how durable it is, but for now, I’m super happy I purchased the TOMLOV.
Pictures included are of shark skin scales and close ups of a $1 bill. The last photo is the closest/most magnification I could get and still be able to focus. These are photos directly from the microscope.
