I was replacing my older Eero mesh system with this one. My old one was becoming unreliable with dropped signals, slower wi-fi, etc. After reading up on various systems out there, this one seemed to bubble up to the top for a mid-tier priced system. I wanted to very wide coverage and there are deadspots around my house (especially towards the front, which is furthest away from the base unit).
The actual units are very nice looking and have a good design that if they’re sitting somewhere visible it won’t distract from any decor. Setup was very easy, just plugged it in, and connected the ethernet cable to the port. Plugged in the other two units in their respective areas and was ready to go within 10 mins.
They do take a bit of time to set and get connected, but the light indicators are clear in what the unit is doing.
The app is the highlight of this. It’s super easy to use, and gives you all sorts of control. I was able to optimize the signal with a push of a button. I’m still having similar issue with the signal in the same areas as before, but the signal’s stronger than before. It’s not the unit’s fault, and more related to interference due to the house.
However, in the rest of the areas, it’s a massive boost to the speeds. I have 1GB service coming in and this wifi is taking FULL advantage of it. I have so many different devices on the wifi and zero slow down. The streaming is faster and more instanteanous after switching.
I’m just looking to see if I can get an extender (that works with this) to maybe add in the spot that I’m seeing issues with the signal, but I have zero compliants about this mesh system. I would highly recommend it. It’s probable the best value for what you get.

I’ll keep it short. It works as a decent mesh network but the range is not all that great. I have a relatively small ranch home with a finished basement 1300 sq/ft. As well as a detached garage. The speeds when in range are great. +450mbs dl speeds but from one corner of the home to the other it greatly reduces signal strength. Also, I can’t get signal in my detached garage.
I had an orbi mesh network for about 6 years in a much larger 2 story home. That set up was Fantastic but it recently had a hardware failure so had to get a new mesh set up. The cost of the orbi was just more than we wanted to spend for our new smaller ranch and we didn’t think we would need to spend that much.
Now this if a fine system for what we need and the cost to value is definitely on point. If you have a larger home you’re going to need at least 3 satellites or maybe more but for a smaller home the 2 satellite system should give you what you need. If youre gaming through wifi from multiple areas of the home, get a 3rd satellite.
It’s really easy to set up and use.
I know it’s not a really detailed review from a tech standpoint. Bottom line is you get what you pay for. Is it the best? Absolutely not. But if your one a budget, it’s a solid buy

I’ve used TP-Link routers for a while now. This is the first time that I’ve used the DECO mesh system from TP-Link. I set up two with one being the router. I like the free version of the app (I’m using Android). It gives quite a bit of information (I’m not using or needing the upgrade version which is not free). The router is working fine and I get expected speeds using bandwidth tests. I have the second unit using the 6GHz back channel to communicate to the router. The second unit is in front of a window to give access to my back decks and to my dock. The dock is about 300 feet from the window. I get good signal on the dock and have not been disappointed. I’m not a professional gamer so ping response is not too important to me. I do stream a lot of video and I do play console games. I can say that I am happy with these applications. I would recommend and buy again.

My CR1000A Verizon router broke. I upgraded from G3100 for speed reasons but G3100 was so stable. Not a week after my friend ‘s CR1000A broke, mine did too. I was frustrated without Internet. Most routers are so ugly and distasteful with so many antenna looking like a UFO about to take off. All my furniture were white so I didn’t have a whole lot of options. My initial choice was Google Nest but it was so basic even though it looks good. So I opted for this good rated one. It’s half the size of my Verizon router. I love that white cylinderical look. The LED indicator of green saying connection to internet and red saying disconnected is just so helpful.
Now, I’m happy with the purchase for my use. I have a small place so mesh is not necessary. In fact, I might return it if I needed mesh. My friend has Google Nest and it runs smoothly. Deco was causing issues because mesh was on. I read forums and found that it’s a known issue so I went into all my devices and turned off mesh mode. It was trying to find the best signal for me and if I’m moving away from the router/node, it was dropping connection. I cannot say if this issue is no longer there if there’s another node. For me, as only using a single node, it was necessary for me to turn off mesh mode individually in all my wifi devices. If you are having problems with this as a single node, try turning off mesh mode and ‘fast roaming’.
If you have hard wire switches throughout your house, make sure you power cycle them. I was scratching my head trying to troubleshoot why my wired speed were 1/3 of what it should be. Power cycling the switches fixed it. Wireless speed is amazing. There’s no drop in speed. It’s exactly the speed I subscribed from my ISP.
Another upside to this router is that it has 2.5gbps LAN ports. My house is wired in CAT 6 and 7 so I can take advantage of this except I’ll need to upgrade my switches, NAS and computer NIC, lol. For the premium price I paid, it should have been 10 gbps LAN because even the Verizon CR1000A has 10 gbps LAN. I don’t get why 10 gbps LAN tp-link routers are above $500. Unbelievable. Wait a few years I guess.
With Verizon, I used to have to use a desktop web browser to manage my network which I didn’t know was so outdated. I can now do all of that from Deco app on my phone. It’s so intuitive and didn’t need a whole lot of learning or prior knowledge. I love this Deco app. I can see all my clients, separate IoT network for my wifi light switches, reserve DHCP address, block, isolate clients, etc. all on my phone. That’s so convenient.
I tried chat support with Deco support. I had a pleasant experience. Didn’t have to wait too long. The support guy made sense and knew what he was saying.
Bottom line: It looks good and it works great once the mesh mode is turned off in single-node configuration. It’s $100 more expensive than what I wanted to spend on but I didn’t have a lot of options for white routers that looks great, works great, and fast.
