It is inexpensive and is Xfinity compliant. For a long while it seemed to work very well. I’ve also noticed that even though my downloads have been upgraded to 60mb/s the Amazon Prime and Netflix will max out at 25 mb/s. I’ve heard that the limit is there bc the unit is not up to date with the latest requirements by Xfinity. However it also has developed a problem where it reboots several times a day, and may hang for a long time during the process. At that time you have no internet connection.
(EDIT** 11/20, Read the rest of this older review if you like I’m leaving it intact only bc at the time there was a problem, but the problems have been resolved and the reboot is no longer an issue. With a better WiFi transmitter you’ll get better speed too. People are most compelled to write a review when there’s a problem and don’t often come back to edit after it’s resolved. This TP Link is working fine and saved me cash having no need to buy another. I upped the review to 4 stars.

You’re watching a movie, and then you can’t late at night who wants to get up out of bed and fiddle w the modem twice a night? You may have to do a manual reboot to speed up that process. What is the problem, bleeding capacitors? IDK, no solutions can be found. This is happening so often now that it has become a nuisance. There are many complaints about this to be found.

Cable modem router performs to stated specs. Gui interface is typical for T.P. link products. Longevity? Received in 6 days with T.P. Link router AC750 that was automatically chosen as part of the package.

TP-Link gives you good products for a good value. I used this as my modem for Teksavvy internet. All I did was login and change the admin password (but if you want, you don’t even have to do that).

Excellent value, performance, and compatibility with Comcast Xfinity internet.

I was beginning to have serious problems with my Motorola SB6121 cable modem (4×4). It could no longer establish more than 1 upstream channel and was logging continuous ranging retry errors for the other 3. It served me well for years but I decided it was time for a new modem.

My service level is Performance which in my area is 25/5. I did not want to buy an expensive replacement. I found the TP LINK TC-7610 on Amazon and it looked perfect. A $40 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem on the Comcast approved retail purchase list! And I was not disappointed.

I swapped the TC-7610 in place of the SB6121 without changing anything else on my network. All I did was power on the modem and wait for about 5 minutes while it established connectivity, installed some Comcast specific firmware (?), and then rebooted. After the modem lights where all on solid I was good to go.

I opened the Edge browser under Windows 10 x64, entered a URL, and was taken to the Comcast online activation page. You have the option of entering an account number and phone number. Or you can sign in using your Comcast online account name and password, which is what I did. After that the activation of the new modem was completed in a couple of steps and I was up and running with no need to call Comcast!

Performance and stability has been excellent. The cable modem you receive in the frustration free packing is exactly the same as the retail box version, only cheaper. I am currently on a 30 day Prime free trial so I selected 2 day shipping, but I actually received it overnight. Plus it was delivered by an Amazon Flex driver.

The great price IMMEDIATELY drew me in to this product. I was NOT looking forward to spending hundreds of dollars to update my stone age equipment. I read through several pages of these reviews before I made my purchase. There were a few bad reviews, but The MASSIVE amounts of 5 star reviews had me feeling confident. My biggest concern when looking for a modem was that it wasn’t on Comcast’s “approved hardware” list. Our old cable modem was over ten years old and couldn’t handle the high speed. At that point, it was worth a shot because out of my available 150mbps download speed (from my internet service provider), I was only getting about 11mbps. Your available download speed may vary depending on your ISP. This does NOT produce a wifi signal. You will have to purchase a separate wireless router to go with it. I bought both the TP modem and router. I am finally enjoying my blast! Teir internet speeds. No more slow or spotty connections. Easy set up for even the least tech savvy person. Just plug in your power, coax, and Ethernet then call up your ISP to have them sync the MAC and SN with their signal. Took all of 10 minutes to set up from the time the package was delivered on my porch to the time I hung up with Comcast. We comfortably run 2 smart TVs, a game council, two cell phones, and a tablet with no issues. Dont let those 1star reveiws scare you. For the price, it is definitely worth a try. So go ahead and hit that “add to cart”. Hope this helped your decision.

So far it seems to work ok. It seems as this is a used modem (cables were a bit of a mess and modem/adapter has some dust & such). Time will tell.

On Saturday I notice start.ca was listing a new 250/20 service in select cogeco areas. They have since dropped that listing, because the offering does not go live until October 1st. On Sunday I ordered this modem, as it was on the supported modem for the new service. But by Monday it was dropped from the list, because Cogeco sent out a new list of supported modems. It took me awhile to realise why Cogeco dropped this modem from this speed tier, since it is more than capable. Then I notice Cogego’s website now lists a 60/10, 120/10, 360/20, … They dropped the speed tiers between 120 and 360. So anything that does not support 360/20, will be blocked by Cogeco for anything about 120/10.

I was sadly disappointed, because despite the fact I ordered used, the modem looked absolutely brand new. I liked the simplicity of the design. It is well vented for cooling. I was really excited to see what this modem could do.

My downstream power levels increased by 2-3 dBmV compared to my old DCM476 modem, although upstream went down slightly by 0.5-1 dBmV. It’s definitely a worthy trade off because my lines are decades old and every little boost helps. It’s also been rock stable as far as internet connection. Looks like my previous modem is showing its age at 6 years as it was causing intermittent down times.

The TC-7610 is about as warm the DCM476 to the touch, but since the natural position is standing up versus lying down, all the ventilation holes can freely disperse/intake air. With the DCM476 modem, I had to purchase tiny cushions to stick them underneath in order raise it above the surface it was on for more air; with the TP-Link there’s no need.
