I love this book! You can hear Peter Cullen’s voice in the dialogue of Optimus Prime! The art is amazing definitely recommend! Can’t wait until the next volume!

I’ve recently gotten back into Transformers after over a decade and wanted to dive into the comics. After hearing much praise of this story, I wanted to check it out. The end result: HOLY CRAP! This story is incredible and very engaging so far.
This volume packs so much of a punch that I was entirely expecting. The brutality is insane where I felt so many emotions while reading it through. Sadness, heartbreak, anger, anguish all wrapped into one. The art truly shines and comes to life through every page. This volume has already highlighted why Optimus Prime has always been one of my favorite characters. So much respect, compassion, nobleness. So many layers and good ideologies presented through this volume alone.
The Decepticons are a force to be reckoned with – Starscream being new leader after the fall of Megatron and decides to go on a killing spree. Just crazy, R rated material and it works very well.
I will definitely continue reading this storyline! As a renewed Transformers fan, this is a hard recommendation! Certainly has lived up to the hype.

A wonderful remake of the original series. Art is great, story and characters are impressive, and it has not gone stupid. Highly recommend for fans new or old.

DWJ is crafting one of the best modern Transformers stories. The writing is meaningful, the art is impactful, and this volume brings the first six issues together beautifully.

Wharra comic book. Present optimus as he should be, kind and gentle but ready to fight when lives are at stake. Does not shy away from showing the realities of war and amazing artwork. Will buy next volume when it comes out.

As a long-time Transformers fan (the ‘86 movie was the first film I ever saw at the cinema), and as an avid reader of the IDW run of comics (which, to be fair, had highs and lows), I was intrigued when Skybound took over the rights of the franchise.
We’ve seen numerous reinventions of the Transformers story, including when IDW had their own reboot. And – without going into spoilers – these first 6 issues don’t necessarily reinvent the wheel. Robots fight, the fight ends up on Earth. Fans of the original G1 cartoon will instantly recognise the initial set up.
What’s perhaps less expected is how dark the story is, from the off. Starscream is unhinged, and there were a number of moments when I was genuinely taken aback by what was unfolding on the pages in front of me. On the flip side, Optimus is as Optimus as he can get – there’s one particular scene that shows Prime’s intense empathy and belief that all life is valuable, whether it’s made of metal or – as Starscream describes it – squishy.
Finally, a note on the artwork. My personal favourite Transformers artist is Alex Milne, most notably from the MTMTE run from IDW. I also love the very precise artwork of EJ Su. But the artwork from Daniel Warren Johnson is sublime – it’s messier, and more organic. But it really works, and robots and humans alike are full of expressive personality.
So, it’s a great start, and I’m looking forward to where the story ends up next.

Fantastic book. Story is a delightful new take on the classic G1 setup, with a unique art style and some of the best-written characters Transformers has had in years.

Heard a lot about how these new Transformers comics by Skybound are really good, so I bought the first volume to see for myself.
And MAN, am I glad I did! The story, the artwork, the characters, everything about this is simply fantastic!
Skybound is really knocking it out of the park so far, and I am so gonna preorder the second volume! If you haven’t bought any of these Transformers comics yet, what are you waiting for?! Get em’ and read em’ already!!

I don’t care for the retro-ish art style but the story is pretty good so far and I’m interested to see where it goes.

While I myself have yet to read the IDW run of Transformers comics, the concept of a more serious take on this franchise is not new to me, or TF fans as we’ve had some many different takes over the years.
This comic begins almost identically to the original pilot episodes of the 80s show, but immediately, two things become very clear. This WILL be an original story, and it WILL engage with the reader on an unexpectedly emotional level.
The changes to the story are all done with a PURPOSE beyond merely surface level, I’m pretty certain there isn’t a change that doesn’t have a significant impact on the story or characters.
The characters truly shine here. The Autobots feel truly heroic, the Decepticons are truly malicious, and the humans are truly vulnerable. Whether the character is made of metal or flesh, they all feel absolutely human on an emotional level.
This comic has the touch, nuff said.

This is the beginning of such an amazing story, definitely for a more mature audience. The art is also stellar.
