My son had a pair of toy bongos that sounded like he was hitting a piece of plastic, which he was. There was no good sound coming from it and after hitting once or twice he never touched it again. So I decided I would get a better pair, something he could play with and something I could use myself later.
This pair was on sale black Friday and I thought it was a good chance to buy a decent pair for the price of toy ones. The bongos feel like a solid build and have a nice loud sound, I can easily hear them over my acoustic guitar. More important, my son loves them. He plays with them everyday and its great to have a instrument that he can play at his age.
For the right price, I would definitely recommend this to anyone as a starter pair.

Let me start by saying we aren’t bongo players, we just tap on these things, my almost 6 y-o really wanted them for Christmas. They were a last minute order and with bad weather they didn’t make it here in time, but a few days after Christmas when they arrived I checked them out and you could just tell that they are really nicely made. They came well packed, with a tuning key, and they really sound great! They’re just gorgeous, so I wrapped them and brought them to my daughter and said I forgot to put this one under the tree! She was entirely surprised and so happy to receive them! They’re much , much nicer than I expected for the price, I paid around 45 dollars. We have been having a lot of fun with them, when friends stop by for a visit people can’t help but pick them up and drum 🙂 and that’s what music shall about!

A very impressive instrument. I’ve tried a few different sets of $40 – 100 bongos (GP B2 Pro-Series and CP Traditional Wood Bongos) and have been sorely disappointed. Flat sound, crap action, shoddy construction. Then these Tycoons showed up. What a difference: vibrant and percussive tone; responsive action; sturdy and detailed construction. Splurge the extra $20 and get a pair you’ll actually enjoy playing. Five stars.

I ordered this bongo to arrive in two days and I was pleasantly surprised. This bongo not only met all my hopes and expectations of a great sound and quality, but also the look is great and it came with a tuner, which I did not realize at the time of ordering it. I love these bongos! I would recommend you buy a pair if you love bongos too. Oh and they look exactly like the picture. The price was cheap for such a great product!

This is perfect for beginners. The sound is good in that it sounds like Bongo. A cheaper item I purchased earlier didn’t sound like Bongo at all so this is definitely a lot better but maybe not professional level.
One thing to keep in mind is that the tuning is really sensitive to hot/cold environment. I don’t think it is specific to this product, but more the instrument. Carry the tuning wrench with you as the sound will change if you leave it out for a few hours (near a pool like I did).
Other than that, just enjoy! It’s a really fun instrument to learn and master. And it can get addictive. I really enjoy producing sounds with my hands as opposed to drumsticks, feel like there is a better connection 🙂

This is my second set of bongos. My first one Dark Stained Hardwood Tunable Bongo Drums 7″ & 8″ was a waste of money (read my review). These bongos are great! Way heavier than my first set. Well made, great finish and easy to tune with the wrench included. I like the sound and the fact that they are environmentally-friendly as they are manufactured with Siam Oak Wood. I have looked high and low for a good and affordable set of bongos. I have read hundreds of reviews on the internet and I can tell you that by far these are the best bang for your buck!

These bongos look beautiful. I ordered them from Amazon and they were shipped and arrived quickly. I was concerned when they arrived as the corner of the box was damaged a little bit. I opened them up and they were fine. I must say that Amazon took care when shipping and packaging them as the bongos were not damaged at all.
The bongos sound great and my family is enjoying them. Great value for a good sound.
