Watch dogs 2 is a sequel to Watch Dogs (duh) and vastly improves over the hacking system, open world. The whole vibe and story of this game is a huge change from the monotone first game but some of these changes aren’t super great, Ill explain.
Gameplay: The whole hacking dynamic of this game feels different than watch dogs 1. Hacking wise this game got significantly better than watch dogs 1, now you have a drone you can free use anywhere and race car toy to hack stuff you cant reach on foot. You can hack drive cars, and a lot more objects in the game and use them in different ways. All of which makes this games hacking much more fun and satisfying. The location is also now bright and sunny, colorful san Francisco which again is a much better and more interesting environment then WD1. Where this game starts to suck is the combat and stealth, Much like the first game you are heavily encouraged to stealth this game because it is super easy to get shot and die but the stealth mechanics are significantly worse. The Ai seems to see me though walls and always know where I am and I remember finding this one way more frustrating than WD1 in just the first few minutes.
Graphics, Voice Acting, Music: This game is visually beautiful and lively with the color pallet/ map layout and a clean graphic composition of characters, objects and places in this environment. The voice acting is a lot better and more believable but is over shadowed with very cringe dialogue and goofy characters. This game swaps out Aiden from WD1 with Marcus and a bunch of other forgettable goofy characters. Realistically the only person you will probably remember is “the punk dude in the rave mask” or Wrench; funny thing is I haven’t met anyone who actually remembers these characters names. They are a bunch of silly Millennials that don’t feel like they should be ok with committing mass murder and as for the music well it was better than the first game but still easily forgettable.
Story/ No spoilers: The story in watch dogs 2 was honestly kinda bland. I played this game a few months back and I honestly couldn’t tell you what happened in this game other than Millennial Dedsec hackers do a bunch of unrealistic missions to take down the CTOS2.0. The story was so boring it was difficult for me to even finish it. The Dlcs were a bit better and aside from a few cool missions here and there much like the first game, its a forgettable experience. I played through both WD1 and 2 twice and did all of the side content and I still found I remember what happened in boring WD1 better and that’s saying something. There are Cameos in the main story and DLC of characters from the first game which was cool and their are some vague references to Assassins Creed but much less so then 1. Overall Watch Dogs 2 is visually better than 1 and the hacking is better and even though they reskinned this game to have new characters, a new location and narrative, Watch dogs 2 is still a mediocre experience. 7.5/10

Seeing as i avoided watch dogs after hearing it was a generic game, with a generic character and generic plot, i decided to give watch dogs 2 a go. I was genuinely surprised by how good it is and how thick the plot is and how good the game plays.
Some would say that the plot isn’t to their taste and that is understandable. The game is focused more on hacking and being stealthy than running in guns blazing and if your not very stealthy the game can be quite harsh as a result (Lets just say that Marcus doesn’t absorb many bullets). Running in guns blazing is an option, just not a recommended one. The plot is all about companies selling peoples private information and spying on them. Now, to me this is a good plot as it represents the modern day technology and whats going on. However, to many this wouldn’t appeal to them and they would prefer a story about revenge.
Graphics are outstanding for a game this big! We’re not battlefield graphics which puts all other games to shame, but the graphics are much better than GTA 5. Watch dogs 2 has one of the best open worlds as it has hundreds of side missions, characters to interact with, races to do (even sailing) and online missions. So there is something to please everyone in this game. You can even take selfies at famous landmarks to gain followers!!!
Gameplay is a bit of a mix between Gears of war shooting and Assassins creed free running. This gives it a well designed gameplay and has little no faults (the parkour can be a bit dodgy sometimes, but that’s expected from games these big).
Marcus is definitely an improvement from Aiden Pearce and the same goes for the cast which over time you bond with. Wrench is probably the biggest example of this but they are all different, interesting and fun. The one downside that i had with this game is that it seems unlikely that Marcus would shoot people and kill gang members, it doesn’t fit his character traits and seems too nice, but this is me being picky.
My overall conclusion of watch dogs 2 is that it is worth buying. The price i would recommend getting this game at is £35 or less, thats how much think this game deserves. Not game of the year, but definitely close to being it!
