Since I got myself a fancy laptop with one of them new-fangled USB 4 ports (Acer Swift Edge 16″, Ryzen 6800U), I figured I could grab something like this to simplify connecting it to my monitor, peripherals and network.
At first glance, it appears to work – it gets line speed on the Gigabit interface, it can drive my 3440×1440 ultrawide at 60Hz, and the keyboard, mouse and webcam I usually use all work as expected.
I’d originally written a very critical review of this as my out of the box experience with Ubuntu 22.04 was poor. The network connection kept dropping after random amounts of time, killing my VPN connection to work and clobbering the bajillion ssh sessions I tend to accumulate over the course of a day.
However, some googling suggested that this might be the result of tlp’s power management stomping on the ethernet adapter. Blacklisting the vendor:productid for the ethernet adapter (USB_DENYLIST=”0b95:1790″ in a .conf file in /etc/tlp.d) appears to have helped at first glance; it’s been up and unperturbed now for a couple of hours. I’ll be keeping an eye out over the next few days before declaring victory.
Beyond that, my only other gripe is that it uses a captive USB C cable. It’s a bit on the short side, and if the cable were ever damaged, there’s no way to replace it. However, at this sort of price, I’m not massively bothered.

U-Green accessories have become some of my favorite non-brand/brand to purchase these days. They come in under most “name brands” but don’t seem to skip on the actual quality of the product.
This hub is no exception featuring a 1 Gbps Ethernet port, up to 65W power pass through, as well as SD Card reader and additional USB-C ports it handles pretty much any necessary need for a slim or port lacking laptop might need.
Even when under heavy load the unit doesn’t get terribly warm and is a small enough size to slip into a back pack or bag without adding any significant bulk or weight. The outer casing feels like aluminum and the look is of a Apple product style finish, very sleek even for it being just a USB-C hub. It also features a decent braided cord so you could allow it to dangle over the desk edge or sit it directly next to the laptop which ever you prefer.

Funciona bem no mac, ipad.

Needed this hub for a few reasons.
1. Put SteamOS Recovery on a MicroSD to format my new 1TB 2230 SSD for the Deck
2. HDMI out at 60hz
The official Steam Deck dock is overpriced and I find the ugly logo a lot of these third party dock manufacturers use to just be hideous and off-putting. I decided it would be a better idea to just go with a hub instead for versatility and portability. I looked at quite a few USB C hubs and as you know there are a lot of concerning reviews you’ll read on every one of them. There are just so many fly-by-night brands popping up now it’s hard to tell what’s trash and what’s legit. I ended up just biting the bullet and went with this one.
The build quality feels solid. Put a MicroSD card in and plugged it into my PC and it worked immediately. File transfers worked fine. Plugged it into my Deck and was able to install SteamOS on my new drive smoothly. Tested the HDMI and it worked without a hitch. I was also able to play the Steam Deck while it charged through the hub using the C port for passthrough power. I haven’t tested the ethernet yet but I will get to it eventually. If any problems arise I WILL update this review. If there are no further mentions then you can assume it worked fine.
Overall I am pretty satisfied so far. The only ‘con’ is that the hub got a little warm while it was charging the deck but I think that’s probably pretty normal and to be expected.
UPDATE: After playing using the HDMI adapter more I’ve run into an issue. At completely random intervals the signal will disconnect for 3-5 seconds. After some googling it looks like this is a fairly common issue. Whether or not it’s directly related to the hub itself or something to do with the Steam Deck I’m not sure.

Very nice good quality fast speed , but sometimes getting worm i can say in general is trasutable product

Not very cheap but high quality and works great.
Checked for Lenovo “duet 3” windows tablet and Samsung S10 android phone (Dex).
*Cord is short and most suitable for laptops.
The downside it’s build-in so if cable gets damaged, the device will be useless.

I was looking for a travel dock that I could pack for either my Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch OLED model. The Switch in particular has some problems with third party docks – older docks designed for the original model limit the output resolution on the OLED model to 480p. Very few vendors state whether or not their devices have this problem and reviews / forums often don’t mention it either.
This dongle works perfectly with both consoles and for the price will be hard to beat. A couple of tips for people in the same situation:
– Buy a high quality power adapter or use the originals. I ran my early tests with an 85W MacBook Pro charger and both consoles had problems with it – the Switch wouldn’t detect the dongle at all, and the Deck had a slow charger warning. The original power supplies work, or certain third party power supplies will work fine, you just need to be choose one capable of switching to the correct output voltage and current.
– Games running via a dongle on a Steam Deck really want to output 720p. No higher resolutions appeared in my games. There’s an option under the game properties in Steam to use “Native” resolution which allowed my games to output in 4K60. This will melt your Steam Deck, but it also allows you to output 1080p60 which is probably the resolution you want.
I didn’t test the SD slots but I’d expect them to work with the Deck, not the Switch. I tested Ethernet and pulled a full 1Gbps through it. The USB ports worked fine for a keyboard and mouse on the Steam Deck. In summary, the dongle had no issues at all with anything the dongle could control, just be careful with the gotchas above if you’re intending to use this for either game console.

Works as advertised

The price for this is fine considering all the connections it has as well as being able to connect to Switch and a MacBook with no issues at all. Some adapters don’t work with a Switch but this works perfectly both displaying picture and charging. Same for the MacBook and any other peripherals connected to it.

Super handy – love it … AND
It’s become impossible to unhear this super high frequency noise now – I had to cover it with a towel.
It already runs a little hot so hopefully it won’t burn up now.
