Jim Yim –
Didnt spend much time trying to resurface the reed. Gave up Vandoren reeds and changed to another brand that can be used right out of the box.
Amazon Customer –
This makes a nice change to scraping the reeds with a small screwdriver!!!
Disappointed –
This product was recommended to me and it has already come in handyโmaking oboe reeds a little easier to make.
avi8tor –
My sax reeds are rough coming out of the box. This allows me to sand down the roughness and to “profile” the contour to achieve the sound that I am looking for. Doesn’t take off too much at at time. Works really well. Highly Recommend.
Mr. G. Snowdon –
I really like this product, but it simply broke in half when it fell off my music stand. In a way I wasted my money. I could have used the money spent towards a reed geek.
Joseph –
Love this product! Highly recommend if your reed is stuffy. Balance around the heart & ears of the reed in same strokes (until balanced) from left to right, starting at around 2/3rds & the center of the reed

If you’re a reed player, saxophones or clarinets, then you’ve spent your life fooling around with your reads. They just don’t play like you’d like out of the box. The old cheap way, was to scrape the tip or the heart of your reed to get it to a desirable thickness. Kind of crude, and if you didn’t do it right, would leave nasty nicks. The original way was to use what is called Reed Rush, which is a natural stick with a rough husk, that you’d use the same way. But Reed Rush is very hard to find, if at all. So Vandoren came up with the Glass Reed Stick. This is basically the same as Reed Rush, with a finer grit on it. This is the elegant way to work with your reeds. Also, I’d recommend if you get this, to get the Reed Resurfacer, a glass plate you lay your reed one to work with the Reed stick. This allows for the finest adjustments. You can get both together in one package on Amazon.

Very fine file.

Although this works somewhat, it gets easily clogged and dirty and isnโt as effective as sandpaper.
