This works well with tons of functions, the instructions are a little technical but pretty good

Do you know how to use one of these calculators? I hope so, because the manual definitely isn’t going to teach you. I didn’t really get this for me, so I don’t really know how to use each and every function properly. My aunt, on the other hand, always uses a calculator like this one. She had one of those old, dot matrix style calculators that was….um…probably 35 years old. It had to be, considering I remember it being around way back in the early 90’s. It finally died, so I got her this one. It’s obviously much quieter than the old one. This one also has more digits than her old one did.

I have played around with it a bit, and it definitely works great. We had a “farm sale” (think yard sale, but on a farm, with thousands of items), and my aunt worked the cash box with this all day. It’s not technically portable, but I have tons of solar equipment, so she had it plugged into a solar power bank while she sat at a table under one of those big patio umbrellas all day. She printed out hundreds of receipts without issue.

2-1/4″ thermal paper rolls are not terribly expensive, and are available all over amazon. Loading the paper is easy. There’s a little slot on the back, just stick it in there. Obviously, it only prints in black because…it’s thermal paper. It prints clearly, though bad thermal paper can cause some issues with any thermal printer, this one included. We had a roll that caused it to print kind of weird, but it was only that one roll and all the other rolls were just fine.

The media could not be loaded.

Overall a good calculator but has some flaws:

    The good:
fast printing, Large readable display, Easy paper loading, Very quite operation, deep dark printout.

    Need Improvement:
No manual number display selection switch like on the Victor 1310 or Sharp ELT3301 ( select 10 or 12 digit which determine the font size) , printer font size selected automatically on this model. Default large font size uses lots more paper for the printout, the smaller font is more then readable and preferred in my opinion.

Questionable long term durability of the slider switches, not very smooth and feel very cheap, just need to spend a dollar more to have a much nicer user experience. My switches takes a little dip before it slides.

    Wish List feature:
Have reprint function like the Casio HR series which let you print whole calculation after you finish, even with the print selection on “NP”. Alone with it comes the “Check and Correct” function with 150 to 300 lines of memory.

Overall happy with the calculator, good thing I got the extended protection on it with the slider switch being questionable.

It’s the most quiet calculator I have had. The print is a little too big, but all in all it’s a nice calculator

You still see these type of adding machines everywhere, especially businesses that still refuse to computerize. I personally had used one of these nightly at two of my past positions to count down cash drawers.

Since I love to mess with strange tech like this, I wanted to know how to program one of these. I figure they will be around as long as there are owners that detest computers, so it might even be a useful job skill.

There is more than enough instruction included on how to operate and program this machine. Do it just for the oh so satisfying clacky buttons! Everyone in your vicinity will know that numbers are being crunched when you use this beast.

This is very cool and great to use in small businesses! It saves time but it a bit complicated to work and confusing.

I am picky about the calculators I use at work, and although I don’t do any major calculations with it but use it every day. I didn’t really need the printing function but it’s nice to have. I love that you don’t need ink or a ribbon, just the paper. It’s nicely made and well designed, easy to type on and not hit multiple buttons accidentally. It does need to stay plugged in all the time for use. It’s a good product at a good price and will probably last many, many years.

I have the Victor 1226 Thermal Printing Calculator, and it’s a keeper.

The good stuff: It is easy to use, always an important point. It works on electricity, so you don’t have to worry about batteries or solar power. It’s easy to read, very important to when you get older. And the key issue, it has the ability to print your data on a thermal paper receipt. Just like the old days.

The middle stuff: it’s larger than most people remember what a calculator actually is, so you need to find some space on your desk.
There is no real bad stuff associated with this item.

Nothing against the typical pocket calculator, but sometimes you need more functions than simple arithmetic. Granted, you can’t slip this into your pocket or bookbag. It’s a grown-up calculator with grown-up functions. So if you have the space on your office or home desk, take the plunge. It is well worth the cost.

My verdict: 5 stars. And now I can type in my ratings calculations and get a nice receipt for my records.
