Virgin Forest Bamboo Toothbrush Set, Soft Bristle, Eco-Friendly

I bought these to try to get away from plastic. Conceptually, these are a great start, but in practice the heads are about 1/3rd longer than a regular toothbrush – meaning over the 30 days I used the first one I kept hitting the back of my mouth with the wooden end – OW! I also felt I had to get closer and press harder to get the same clean as I would have with the plastic brush, which also was more OW. And then originally the wood handle was smooth, but over the 30 day period it became less and less so, so there are parts where my index finger started to hurt while brushing- not a splinter exactly but the feel of the wood. Maybe you get used to that part eventually. Lastly, it definitely makes sense to not leave the toothbrush submerged in even a little water on either end. So, I ended up laying mine horizontally over the top of my rinse brush and that kept moisture from accumulating (but you have to be careful in a small bathroom not to knock it over). Overall, I like what they are trying to do being more green but if you’re going to get on board with this conceptually be prepared for some discomfort.

These toothbrushes do the job. They’re soft enough to not irritate my sensitive gums. The bamboo handle is sufficiently flexible, which makes it comfortable to hold. The only issue, though it’s not a deal breaker is that the head is on the smaller size, maybe a bit too small. It would work great for kids. I don’t have big teeth, or a big mouth so it’s working pretty good for me.

I got these because I prefer compostable options and these are great. The bristles are softer than the bamboo brushes I’ve had from both Target and Walmart (though Target still wins on ergonomic handles). So far they seem totally durable but they’re so affordable that it’s no big deal to replace them.

I’m on a mission to reduce our plastic consumption. All the big box stores seem to carry mostly plastic toothbrushes, so I am very pleased that Amazon has a decent selection. We’ve purchased this brand multiple times. The handle is smooth and solid. It fits nice in the hand. It’s not as ergonomic as some of those molded plastic ones, but it isn’t any harder to use. The bristles are soft and they wear down eventually, but by the time they do, you should probably replace your toothbrush anyway. Note tho that I am pretty rough on my toothbrushes and often chew on them a bit. We appreciate the variety of colored bristles so we can tell them apart. We also write our initials on the handle with a date, so we can tell them apart and keep track of their age.

The bristles are fine, yet very effective at cleaning the teeth. The handle is well designed and made out of wood so other than the bristles, it does not add more plastic to our environment, to our bodies.

So far I have used only one of the brushes that came in the pack… I’ve found it to be surprisingly refreshing and a joy to use. Something about it leaves a really clean feeling that’s satisfying. It is rather odd, but I find I’m brushing more, and enjoying it. I’d previously gone through the plastic brushes and didn’t like them, brushing was a chore, that I tended to put off unfortunately… So it’s odd to me how fresh and clean it leaves me, the brushing feels good – it feels effective, my teeth feel polished after. Worth recommending.
