These are simply beautiful pens. My only complaint is that I had to buy the converter separate. That’s the part that replaces the ink cartridges, so you can fill it from an ink bottle. However, it was only $10 for the converter. I did some shopping on some pen web sites, and the prices for fountain pens in general, had gone very pricey. This was still a good value, and looks every bit as nice as pens costing much more.

I gave two of them as gifts. They are perhaps the classiest gifts I have ever given, by the response from the guys who got them.

This purchase was made out of curiosity rather than need. I have been very happily using a Parker Urban fountain pen (medium tip) with success and satisfaction thus had no particular need for a new or different pen. However, as much as I like the Urban and how it writes, its heft and relatively thick ink line caused one to wonder what using a fine point would be like thus this pen.
The first noticeable differences between the Waterman Expert and the Parker Urban are the light weight of the former and its body’s rather plasticky finish, in contrast to the Urban’s wonderful lacquer finish and real heft.
Frankly, the light weight and high polish plastic finish was a bit offputting and I immediately didn’t like the pen. It is one of the reasons for choosing not to buy an ink reservoir and to go with cartridges, at first. Nevertheless, the writing experience of this Waterman is excellent. The pen writes first time, the line is fine but the nib allows one to write fluidly while the light weight of the pen body does allow one to write neatly for longer than I find I am able to do with a heavier pen. Actually, I like the writing experience with this Waterman so much that the ink in the Urban has dried up.
While I haven’t taken the step to using an ink bladder and bottled ink for the Waterman, it is something that may be worth exploring. Also, I should note that using the ink cartridge on this pen has been without problems while with the Urban I wasn’t able to get the supplied cartridges to flow well and the pen never wrote first time with a cart. installed.
The only reason I don’t rate this 5 stars is that the plasticky body is still kind of an issue for me, even though I really like writing with this pen, and also because I am not keen on the style lines of the pen’s body; they are somewhat contradictorily simultaneously sharp and lumpy. Nevertheless, I recommend this pen.

Firstly I will thank and appreciate Mr. Anil Sehgal the seller for his professionalism and transperancy. First I had ordered Waterman expert with black body and gold trims. Mr. Anil called me and informed that it is not available and if I wish to continue he will send me the same pen with chrome body and gold trims which he shared the pics over whatsapp and he also mentioned that it is customizable. I was very delighted when I received this pen….Its really fabulous and light in hand and the fine nib wow….buttery smooth. Thanks alot.

Of my entire fountain pen collection (Pilot VP, Metro, Kaweco Sport, Monteverde Vesuvio, Lamy Safari, TWSBI Eco, Platinum 3776), this hands down is my favorite pen, except for possibly the 3776. Beginning with the look of the pen, it is a great balance of classy and restrained. In particular, the use of gold accents and the shape of the clip just look good. The 24ct gold plate is a noticeable shade different from my other 14ct gold pens, it looks better. The cap snaps off, which is just more convenient than threads, and it posts with an interesting attention to detail and design. The gold accent ring near the top of the pen serves to hold the cap on, and the tolerances are such that the pen cap does not friction fit against the body of the pen, yet is held firmly in place when posted. When posted, the cap free to rotate slightly around the ring- It is hard to describe, but this attention to detail give a nice feel that the pen is of quality. Furthermore, unlike some snap pens (looking at you Metropolitan), the step down from the body to the grip section is quite small and this greatly helps with comfort. The grip section of the pen is plastic, however is not readily apparent against the lacquered brass body and cap (note that because the pen is brass, it can not be made into an eyedropper). The real magic of this pen; however, is the nib. For a steel nib, and even compared with many solid gold nibs, it is nothing short of fantastic. When I first opened the pen, I inserted the included cartridge and wrote with it as soon as I could reassemble. The pen did not miss a beat and has not since in months of use. Not one hard start, or skip (except the most minor of hard starts if the cap is left off for a few minutes). The nib writes with a very unique tactile feel, not at all a roughness, but a sort of pencil like feedback that helps my brain recognize what my hand just did. It makes writing much more effortless than with a glassy smooth nib like the vanishing point, in my experience, and it is unique even to the 3776 which is often described similarily. The nib is rather stiff, so variation is minimal, but this is perfect for a EDC pen imo. The nib writes on the wetter side, but not overly so. Finely unlike most fountain pens, there is no breather hole apparent on the top of the nib (looks like it may be relocated underneath and at the base), and as such there is less nib creep. Therefore, this pen works well with thinner more penetrating inks such as Noodlers’ Warden and Bernanke series while still being great with iroshizuku and diamine inks. My only complaint with the pen is that while it allows for a converter, it is not included and the Waterman converter does not fit tightly into the grip. This is nothing more than a personal annoyance and hardly worth mentioning.

Writes smoothly without leaking ink onto the barrel, a fault of each of the other three below-$100 fountain pens I have tried. The gold trim and the box are professionally elegant, making it an attractive gift.

The pen came in a nice box with a cartridge of ink ready to go.
A beautiful pen which puts down a perfect line of ink with no skipping
If you are looking for a perfect gift, or just treating yourself, look no further.

Chinese calligraphy is my new hobby as I have seen pretty handwritings that I never knew about, I bought 30+ fountain pens in the last twelve months, price from $2 Chinese unknown brand to sub $200 gold nib pens. Here are what I have learned about this pen and others

    1. This pen is possibly best made to fit my hands, doesn’t feel slippery, it has a super smooth nib that is a joy to write. The feel of weight and ergo in the hand beats my most expensive ~$200 pens.
    2. The line variation is not the best among my collections, for that I give it to Japanese brands with gold nibs or Lamy lines, then some Chinese brands that are much cheaper.
    3. At the beginning, I count on reviews of fountain pen on YouTube, disappointedly and rarely I see people with huge collections of expensive pens writes well, in fact very poorly that I don’t see a point of buying what they are reviewing about.

I’m sure the price is right, the pen functions well enough to suite everyone’s need.
