HDD arrived defect became non functioning after format and partitioning !
The price (44 Euro) should have been a warning i guess.
Returned the disc 30 days ago and payed 11.40 Euro post transport and
they still have received nothing?? So I’m out of 55 Euro ?
If so than I’m done with AMAZON !!

The hard drive formatted to BTRFS with no trouble and was put into service to back up a home partition externally. Used to replace a still good W.D. 1TB drive in the same position. Producing a compressed, encrypted backup worked well, drive got warm as it was doing a lot of work and is quieter than the previous model. It will stay in service for incremental backups. Smart data shows no previous usage and no errors. We are pleased.

Ordered two of these for mirrored drive setup. One of them was DOA and got a replacement sent.
Working well in media server hosting all my movies in a mirrored setup.

I bought the Western Digital 2 TB WD AV-GP SATA III Intellipower 64 MB Cache Bulk/OEM AV Hard Drive WD20EURX hard drive to increase the storage capacity of a TiVo Roamio OTA.
I’ve read in other reviews, some buyers are receiving used or refurbished hard drives. I did not want to install a used or refurbished hard drive. I contacted the seller, TNTelectron, and I was assured the drive shipped would be new. The hard drive I received was manufactured in May 2014, over two years ago, and I was concerned a used drive had been shipped. Using CrystalDiskInfo, I accessed the hard drive’s SMART data. The disc health is good and here are two pertinent readings:
Power on Count: 5
Power on Hours: 0
The SMART data show the drive has only been powered on 5 times previously and hasn’t even reached one hour of use. I am pleased but I wonder where this drive has been for the past two years and if it’s not actually refurbished with the drive data erased during the process. In any event, the price was good, the warranty from the seller is 1-year replacement, and, as of this writing, 30 days since installing the hard drive, everything is working well.
After installing the hard drive and powering on the TiVo Roamio, the replacement hard drive made quite a bit of noise. I was concerned I did something wrong but after a minute or so the drive quieted down. Now, if I get close to the TiVo I can hear the spindle spinning but it’s very faint and not an issue for me. The drive has been working quietly for almost 30 days and no issues. I’m pleased with the hard drive and the seller, TNTelectron.
Below are some comments regarding installing the Western Digital WD AV-GP 2TB hard drive into the TiVo Roamio OTA.
TiVo has apparently made some changes over time. I have read elsewhere different size tools have been used. I used the following tools with the TiVo Roamio OTA manufactured in April 2015:
T8 Torx screwdriver for the back of the unit screw.
T10 Torx screwdriver for the hard drive and the hard drive rails
Flat head screwdriver to gently pry the cover away from the base to gain access
Installing the drive was actually very easy.
Disconnect the TiVo from all the cables and power.
Remove the screw on the back in the center of the unit with a T8 torx screwdriver
Gently use a flat head screwdriver to pry the cover away from the base. To remove the cover, I gently pulled up the cover enough to create a small gap between the cover and the base at the back of the unit. I inserted the flathead screwdriver at the edge and gently rotated it left and right and proceeded to go around the edges. As I did, the cover released from the base.
Once the cover is off, the hard drive is visible.
Use a T10 torx screwdriver to remove the three screws holding the drive to the unit.
Disconnect the power and data cable from the hard drive and remove the hard drive.
Next, remove the rails from the hard drive using the T10 screwdriver.
Now, attach the rails to the replacement hard drive.
Attach the power and data cable to the replacement hard drive.
Place the replacement hard drive into the unit and tighten the screws previously removed.
Place the cover back over the unit. I first made sure the clip in the front of the unit matched up and then the rest of the cover easily clicked into place.
Reconnect the TiVo to start the new setup process. TiVo Roamio automatically formatted the drive.
All One Passes (i.e. Season Passes) and preferences will need to be set again.
According to the System Information, I now have 316 hours of HD recording capacity.

This came well packaged once installed I was able to format it without any trouble and it worked great in my security cameras has lots of storage I didn’t hear any noise out of it however the camera controller is not in the house and I don’t listen to it all the time but as far as I’m concerned it’s quiet enough for sure The search feature is really fast on my cameras and I attribute that in some amount to that hard drive
I recommend it based on my experience

Took a chance on these drives as a replacement the ones in a couple of aging TiVos, which can’t handle drives over 2 TB.
Ordered two drives at the same time, but they arrived in two separate shipments.
Both arrived in sealed anti-static bags, enclosed in a thin “Royal Mail” bubble wrap envelope.
For one drive, the envelope was in a corrugated cardboard box with some additional “sealed air” padding.
The other drive arrived in a large brown paper envelope, the kind that Amazon likes, with little bits of plastic peanuts between the layers of paper. There was also a small computer fan in that shipment, but no additional padding.
I wasn’t really expecting to receive a hard drive packaged in a paper envelope. I still tried copying the TiVo disk, but that soon failed. Diagnostics indicated lots of bad sectors on the paper envelope disk. Diagnostic option to scan for and fix bad sectors eventually hung, getting stuck at 47% on two separate tries.
Giving up on the paper envelope disk, I tried the one that arrived in its own box. I started with the diagnostics on that one. The boxed disk was actually worse, making “dead disk” clicking sounds as soon as I powered it up. Hadn’t heard those sounds in quite a few years. The diagnostics were a total shambles, this one got stuck in the SMART short self-test.
Both drives had a 2016 manufacture date, so the problems might have been old age. But I suspect the indifferent packaging was also part of the equation.
I stuck both drives back in their Royal Mail envelopes and rushed them over to the nearby Whole Foods. I received a prompt refund. So that part of the experience was good, but I did end up wasting a few hours on this project.
Next step is to order some newer drives from a different vendor. More expensive, but this vendor packs each drive in a thick bubble wrap envelope, with goes in a corrugated box. That box then goes in a larger, heavier box, with more padding. Success rate has been 100% for me, but we are talking new drives, versus new – old stock drives in this case.
