Great looking stools. Very sturdy. The low price compared to similar stools you’ll find at brick and mortar stores like AtHome is just gravy on the biscuit. Assembly is easy, but do yourself a favor and listen to the review of “Justin and Danielle” that advises you to throw away the Allen wrench and use a ratchet. I didn’t heed that advice at first. I thought surely I could put a simple stool together on my own. Without leaning on wisdom from a stranger on the interwebs I couldn’t even prove existed. And, the truth is, I did fine on my own. For a while. Then on the third leg I tried to install, I ran into the problem others have talked about. I couldn’t fully tighten the screws without starting to strip them. My first reaction was to try and fix it on my own. I figured I’d spend a few bucks on some old fashioned Philips head screws to replace the ones that came with the stools. I made a trip to the hardware store to buy the screws, but they didn’t have any that were the right size. I had hit rock bottom. I was ready to give up. Ready to ship back my beautiful 29-inch Winsome Wood Saddle Seat Stools, and go spend almost twice the money to buy an already assembled version from AtHome. Then I remembered a review I had read on the internet before purchasing the stool. A review from “Justin and Danielle” that mentioned the problem was not the screws, but the provided Allen wrench. I was skeptical, but why not throw up one last hail Mary? What did I have to lose? So I made a trip to my toolbox and busted out a ratchet with 4MM hex bit, just as “Justin and Danielle” had suggested. Within minutes, I had completely finished assembly on both stools. What I couldn’t do in an hour using my own wisdom was done in minutes once I leaned on the wisdom of “Justin and Danielle”. I learned the hard way not to doubt “Justin and Danielle”. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Trust “Justin and Danielle” right from the start. Go read their review for yourself. Follow their instructions. Take it from someone who has been where you are, following “Justin and Danielle” is a decision you will never regret.

The instructions are fairly simple and straight-forward. Some learnings:
1) Don’t use the allen key that comes with it. It’s not a good fit and will strip the screw. You’ll need to use your own that fits it well.
2) You’ll need help from someone who has very good finger strength. By god was it hard to screw the top rail to the legs together. All the other connections were much easier.
3) Because of #2, you may want to drill the pilot holes just a wee bit larger. Try the screws first to see how tight they are. (We didn’t increase the pilot hole size as I had my husband put it together. I would have needed to as I’m not strong enough to tighten the screws.)
4) Buy new screws if you’re afraid of stripping your screw heads. We stripped the last screw. Goodness was it hard to get out. They provide an extra screw.
Other than the screw issue, the stools are very well made, solid, and super comfortable. The finish on it is satin, and a warm nice colour.

These bar stools are for a short term vacation rental property, so I needed something sturdy. The assembly was a little challenging because the screw holes are a snug fit but IMO that is good because it makes for a sturdier final product. These stools look great and feel very solid. The only thing I didn’t like is that the wood caps for the screw holes do not fit very well and would certainly have fallen out and gotten lost over time, so I didn’t install them. But the stools are great even without them.

Fairly simple to assemble, but small wooden plugs don’t all fit the holes they are supposed to cover and keep falling out… guess we will use silicon to fasten them, but that would mean the screws are no longer accessible… overall great looking sturdy stools though!!

The achilles heel of these stools is that the company decided to save a couple bucks by sending cheap hardware to assemble it with. The holes that are pre-drilled are NOT all properly drilled. Many of them are too small, or too shallow, which forces you to drive the bolts BY HAND with the hex wrench they supply, OR, to suffer the laborious task of RE-drilling the holes that aren’t properly drilled, as you come across them.
This is a STOOL. Its maybe 1.5 feet wide at its greatest point. WHY do these things need to be shipped in a 5 inch wide box with a dozen screws? I get the idea that it would be easier to store these things in a warehouse if they packaged it unassembled, but it takes one person to hold the legs in place and another person to drive the bolts into position, and it literally takes 45 minutes per stool because the hex wrench is too long and so you cannot simply keep turning the wrench until the bolts are tightened. You have to continuously place the wrench into the bolt, turn the bolt a half an inch, when the long end of the wrench hits to bottom of the seat you must then pull the wrench out, reposition the wrench, turn the bolt another half an inch, pull the wrench out…. jesus christ! WHY must I spend 2 hours putting together three stools?! I’d gladly have paid an extra ten bucks a piece to have these sent to me ASSEMBLED.
So after stripping not one, not two, but THREE bolts, despite taking every bit of time and caution I could muster… I was forced to call amazon, request a refund for the two stools that were still in the boxes, and explain to the lady that as much as I would love to return the other stool, the only way I could possibly fir it back into the box would be to break it into pieces. Now I must go to walmart or target and hope that they have stools already assembled so that I dont have to go through this crap again. Lesson LEARNED and thank you amazon for handling the situation so well. Ill never make this mistake again thats for sure.

Cons: the finish on the wood is uneven and there is a patch on the seat without finish. The seat is slightly uneven sitting on flat ground, the legs wobble.

Bought 3 of these bar stools. They seem like they are of very good quality. Assembly was a bit time consuming. I found that screwing in the 4 long legs to the base seat first worked best. Screw them in at about halfway, then put the short pieces on that attach to the legs. Then tighten everything together. Also, when putting the hole covers on, put a piece a cloth over the hole plug and give it several good taps with something sturdy to secure the plug so it doesn’t fall out. Overall a good value.
