100per cent worth the money! We got it for our 1 year old for the patio doors as we live in an apartment, -it’s so easy and less hassle than other ones we have had ! Definitely recommend for baby’s or pets !

Well this thing was useless. My baby learned how to push it up with her hand and then squeeze her head under it. It does not matter how tight it is or if it’s locked.
it was good for a while when she hadn’t figured out that she could get under it. But even then, it was impossible to operate with one hand. (Which I found extremely annoying as I often only have 1 hand available)
It also wrinkles really easily. And it snaps back super fast. My three year old was trying to be helpful and close the gate for me but it’s under so much tension that she let it go by accident and it snapped back so hard and wrinkled. It was extremely loud and annoying
I started piling random objects up along the entire length of the gate to deter my baby from getting through. And in doing so I thought, what exactly is the purpose of this thing?
In writing this review, I see that I’m still within my return window. I’m probably going to return it. As it’s doing nothing for me.
I would absolutely NOT use this at the top of your stairs!!!!!

Pros and Cons as with anything we buy.
Lets start off with the Pro’s:
This gate is Very Easy to set up, a child could do it.
Stretches and retracts smoothly, and is very long.
Totally Perfect for any doorway or archway, or even a Porch entranceway.
The Cons:
As you have probably read other reviews, the hooks are made of plastic, so they could probably break easily.
(This is an easy fix. Hardware stores carry similar replacement items.)
Once the gate is extended, it is a bit flimsy, and could probably buckle, or the hooks break if a child leans on it, or a dog runs into it with their weight.
If you leave any gap at the floor level, your animal, or child, may feel the urge to try and scoot under it, and WILL be able to do it. But, if you level the gate at the floor, it may mess with the retractable spring on recoil.
To sum it up. These retractable baby gates are a simple deterrent, for a well behaved, Submissive, or slow moving, aged animal. I wouldn’t trust it as a blockade for an active, disobedient and intelligent animal, or active toddler.
For me, It does what I needed it to do. (I have an Old, pretty well behaved dog, and it works perfectly).
If you need a blockade, buy a foldable or sliding wood or plastic gate. Hope this review helped to make your decision.

This took my husband and I about 45 minutes to put together. Needed something to close off an area to the house from my 15 month old grandson. To keep him away from stairs. This works great. Bonus it will even work to keep my dogs away from the door when people enter the house.

easy to install and does the job fine

This was just what I needed to close off the living room from the dogs. I have a wide threshold and this extra long screen was perfect.
Easy to install, easy to open and close. Optional lock is nice.

Wanted a gate to keep the dogs in a room at meal times. Tried it yesterday excellent product. The dogs were not impressed. But we can eat in peace now without crating them .
Tami Bachman –
I BOUGHT THIS FOR OUTSIDE…I DID NOT WANT MY DOGS GETTING TO THE GATE WHEN WE WERE OUTSIDE…IT HAS WITHSTOOD THE WEATHER AND HAS BEEN A GREAT BARRIER FOR MY 4 DOGS. ONE WEIGHING IN AT OVER 100 LBS….HE DID JUMP OVER IT ONCE BUT HE HAS LEARNED THAT HE IS TO STAY ON HIS PLAY SIDE….VERY EASY TO USE AND INSTALL…HAVE NOT USED IT ON STAIRS BUT I WOULD IMAGINE ON THE RIGHT SET UP IT WOULD BE GREAT….NICE THING ABOUT IT IS WHEN NOT IN USE IT TAKES UP VERY LITTLE ROOM…

Works exactly as advertised! Perfect for keeping the dogs sectioned off from part of the house. Aesthetically pleasing, especially when not in use. It tucks away nicely when retracted.

Purchased this extra large gate to separate dogs and their bowls and my crawling son. Works great. It is easy to install and use. Love the look of it compared to other gates and the fact that it is retractable so can easily be put away when it is not needed. The large size is great and there is no sagging in the middle which I was worried about. The only issue I have is when retracting you have to keep the gate perfectly aligned for it to roll up completely. I haven’t mastered it yet and it takes multiple attempts.

Pros:
It looks nice
FYI:
You need to make a full commitment to where you want this, and use stronger anchors than what is provided with the contents.
The full commitment is needed, as you are making this gate a permanent fixture in your home. You are making holes in your walls that will need real drywall repair, and paint, whenever this gate is removed.
Cons:
1) If you accidentally leave the gate unlocked, while the gate is extended and latched onto the hooks: if you accidentally let go of the gate, it has strong force and will slam all the way back to the base, and can rip the base out of your dry wall.
You absolutely must lock the base, after you extend the gate to the hooks.
2) Once you latch the gate to the hooks, and you lock the base, you cannot unlatch from the hooks. That’s good, as far as the kids not being able to unlatch it. But when you are ready to unlatch it, you absolutely need to think it through, and first unlock the base, and then go to the latch side and firmly grip it, and do not let go, and you need to guide it all the way back to the base.
3) The commercial for this shows a lady, holding a baby, reaching down to unlatch the gate, and walks through. No. No holding anything. Haha. Unlatching this gate often is a no go. Latch the gate and leave it that way. This is not a walk-through-all-day gate.
If you want a gate you can walk through, throughout each day, get a gate with a door you can open and shut. The retractable gate is not that.
4) When the toddler decides to pull on it with full force, you have high worry of the base, or the latches, coming out of the wall, and destroying your drywall.
5) For the reasons above, I do not see this gate lasting long, unless we latch it and leave it there almost permanently. And keep kids away from it. I can’t imagine a dog jumping on it. Your drywall won’t last long.
It looks nice though. While the dry wall holds up, however long that may be.
